Hace poco estuve celebrando el cumpleaños de una amiga muy querida, se llama Mariel, pero yo le digo “La Sirena”, Mari es una morena hermosa que rebosa y contagia de alegría y buena vibra a todo el que tiene la dicha de conocerla, yo la conocí hace poco tiempo, en el último trabajo que tuve, me fui del trabajo pero al final la amistad quedó y podría decir que se fortaleció aún más, sencillamente hay personas con las que es más sabroso compartir la vida adulta.
Mari, es una amante loca de la playa, que vivió mucho tiempo en una zona costera, por eso, no me sorprendió cuando un día antes de su cumpleaños, me dijo que si quería ir a la playa con ella por su cumpleaños. Así que ahí estaba yo a las 8am, un MIÉRCOLES, en plena mitad de semana de camino a la playa (algunas de las pocas ventajas que le saco a esta temporada de desempleada).
Nos fuimos de Mochileras hasta una playa llamada Playa Vasito en la Guaira, la verdad, me gustó mucho, es una playa tranquila, no tenía un oleaje fuerte y me encantó que el agua era muy cristalina. Estuvimos en el agua casi todo el dia, ella parecía el propio pececito en el agua, pasamos el rato riéndonos, conversando, de las cosas en su trabajo, de sueños y reflexionando un poco sobre lo que ha sido su historia de vida, fue una mañana muy bonita, nos regresamos temprano porque ella tenía un compartir con su familia, fue una mañana espontánea y relajada igualita a ella, en uno de sus lugares favoritos. De corazón espero que Mari siga cumpliendo muchos años más rodeada de felicidad y buena vibra y espero yo poder seguir acompañándola.

I met her not long ago, at my last job. I left that job, but in the end, our friendship remained, and I’d say it grew even stronger—there are simply some people with whom adult life is more enjoyable to share. Mari is a huge beach lover who lived in a coastal area for a long time, so I wasn’t surprised when, the day before her birthday, she asked me if I wanted to go to the beach with her for her birthday. So there I was at 8 a.m. on a WEDNESDAY, right in the middle of the workweek, on my way to the beach (one of the few perks I get out of being unemployed right now).
We went on a backpacking trip to a beach called Playa Vasito in La Guaira. To be honest, I really liked it—it’s a quiet beach with gentle waves, and I loved how crystal-clear the water was. We were in the water almost all day; she looked like a little fish in the water. We spent the time laughing, chatting about things at her job, talking about dreams, and reflecting a bit on her life story. It was a beautiful morning. We headed back early because she had a get-together with her family. It was a spontaneous and relaxed morning, just like her, at one of her favorite spots. I sincerely hope that Mari continues to celebrate many more birthdays surrounded by happiness and good vibes, and I hope I can continue to be by her side.
