¡Hoy fue un día de piscina! El calor ha estado intenso; ayer las temperaturas ya eran altas y hoy esperábamos superar los 30 °C. Por eso, cuando unos amigos nos invitaron a una piscina a unos 30 minutos de donde vivimos, en Novo Hamburgo, no lo dudamos.
En este post les contaré la experiencia del viaje y la llegada al lugar, llamado "Os Sete Amigos". En una segunda parte, les hablaré más sobre el increíble ambiente rural de la zona.
Hi everyone!Today was a pool day! The heat has been intense lately; temperatures were already high yesterday, and today we expected them to climb above 30°C. So, when some friends invited us to a pool about 30 minutes from where we live in Novo Hamburgo, we didn't think twice.
In this post, I’ll tell you all about the trip and our arrival at the place, called "Os Sete Amigos". In part two, I’ll share more about the incredible rural atmosphere of the area.
El camino y la llegada
Nos levantamos temprano, como ya es costumbre en nosotros, para salir de casa a eso de las 9:30 a.m. Nos encontramos con nuestros amigos y pusimos el GPS hacia Dois Irmãos, que es donde se encuentra el lugar.
Al llegar, nos recibió un entorno súper rural y hermoso, lleno de árboles. Lo primero que vimos fue un cartel sobre la protección de la fauna local. Aquí es común ver pericos, guacharacas y gambás (que es como llaman aquí al rabipelado o zarigüeya). También protegen a los sapos e incluso mencionaban caimanes, advirtiendo que debemos cuidar de no lastimarlos.
Al entrar, nos pusieron unas pulseras que parecen de papel, pero son muy resistentes, y fuimos directo a buscar un sitio para instalarnos.
The Journey and Arrival We got up early, as is our habit, to leave the house around 9:30 a.m. We met up with our friends and set the GPS for Dois Irmãos, which is where the place is located.Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a beautiful, very rural setting filled with trees. The first thing we saw was a sign about protecting the local wildlife. Around here, it's common to see parakeets, guacharacas, and gambás (which is what they call the rabipelado or opossum here). They also protect toads and even mentioned caimans, warning that we must be careful not to hurt them.
As we entered, they gave us wristbands that look like paper but are very durable, and we went straight to find a spot to settle in.
Tradición Gaúcha y diversión en el agua
Algo que me llamó mucho la atención es que el lugar está lleno de churrasquerías. Son estructuras de bloque donde la gente prepara el tradicional churrasco; aquí en el sur es sagrado traer su carne, salchichón y pollo para compartir en familia.
"Gaúcha" Tradition and Fun in the Water Something that really caught my attention is that the place is full of churrasquerías (barbecue stations). These are brick structures where people prepare the traditional churrasco; here in the south, it's a sacred ritual to bring your own meat, sausages, and chicken to share with family.
Antes de comer, nos fuimos directo a las piscinas. Estaban muy limpias, aunque ya había bastante gente. Me animé a probar los toboganes:
El primer tobogán: ¡Fue rapidísimo! Al principio me dio un poco de miedo porque hace mucho que no me subía a uno, pero al ver a los niños lanzarse, me arriesgué. Terminé con las piernas para arriba y tragando algo de agua, ¡pero fue muy divertido!
Las otras piscinas: Había unas cuatro en total, todas muy bien vigiladas. Me gustó mucho que el orden se mantiene estrictamente: no se permiten clavados, juegos de pelota ni ropa con cierres o botones que puedan dañar las instalaciones. Gracias a eso, no hubo accidentes y todos disfrutamos tranquilos.
Before eating, we went straight to the pools. They were very clean, even though it was already quite crowded. I finally worked up the courage to try the waterslides:The first slide: It was so fast! At first, I was a bit scared because it had been a long time since I’d been on one, but after seeing the kids jumping in, I took the risk. I ended up upside down and swallowed some water, but it was so much fun!
The other pools: There were about four in total, all very well-supervised. I really liked how strictly the rules were enforced: no diving, no ball games, and no clothing with zippers or buttons that could damage the facilities. Thanks to that, there were no accidents, and everyone could enjoy the day peacefully.
# Comodidad y buenos precios
Cerca de las piscinas hay un área con venta de helados, pasteles, mesas de billar y sillas para descansar. Lo que más me sorprendió fue la hospitalidad: no cobran por el uso de mesas o sombrillas.
Un amigo fue a buscar un paraguas (sombrilla) y le dijeron que era gratuito, siempre y cuando consumiéramos algo del local. Como los niños siempre quieren helado, nos salió perfecto. Si hubiésemos ido a la playa, nos habrían cobrado al menos 50 reales por una sola sombrilla. ¡Aquí fue prácticamente un préstamo!
En definitiva, pasamos un día excelente y logramos nuestra misión principal: huir del calor.
Comfort and Great Prices
Near the pools, there is an area selling ice cream and pastries, as well as pool tables and lounge chairs. What surprised me most was the hospitality: they don’t charge for the use of tables or umbrellas.
A friend went to get an umbrella, and they told him it was free as long as we bought something from the establishment. Since the kids always want ice cream, it worked out perfectly for us. If we had gone to the beach, they would have charged us at least 50 reais for a single umbrella. Here, it was practically a loan!
All in all, we had an excellent day and achieved our main mission: escaping the heat.
