Greetings, dearest hivers,
I want to share with you what happened last Sunday that perfected my weekend experience. It's family day, one very full day— of fun, excitement, and love (with food as well).
It's been a while since I went home to the island. The last week I was consumed by how much I miss my people already. I had no class since Friday and Saturday. My mama contacted me to just go home since my tiyo from Palawan, together with his family, just came to the island for a little vacation. But I was really busy; I had to tend to my backlogs, and my org mates and I have to cover an important event on Saturday (which is worthy of another blog).
My family was planning to have a get-together at one of the beach resorts in Medellín, since it's a sail away from the island, and two of my tiyos presented the boat of their own, just enough to fit my not-so-big family. My mama initiated that I should come together with my cousin, who is also studying in the same city with me. However, I am a little hesitant because Sunday is supposed to be my church day, so I think it through, and I realize that I cannot afford to lose this chance to bond with my family, especially given that I'm very busy with schoolwork; it would be a gift for myself if I could come. So I contacted my cousin, and the deal was closed.
When Sunday finally arrived, I woke up rather late. I prepared myself immediately and went to the boarding house of my cousin. After a little chitchat, we headed to the location via tricycle. It's a long ride from Bogo City, but I love the scene, so I just lost myself in thoughts about many things. We arrived at around 12 pm, and my family was already there.
A short introduction about the place: it's called The Woody's Beach Resort, located at Mahawak Medellin, Cebu. It has a family pool, founded nearby the sea, with botanical gardens and cottages perfect for family gatherings.
Here's the scene when we arrived:
my tiyos were busy at their stall, grilling fish with their big old men stories.
My little cousins were playing around with billiards (spoiler alert: none of them were good at it).
Here are the women in the family, preparing the food. The bounty was all simple but was all made deliciously by love.
After all the preparations were made, we all shared the food with laughter and stories; all the while the kids were already excited to take a swim at the pool, have fun, and play mermaids (or I don't know if it's just me, keke).
While my tiyas are busy talking about big-old-stuff at the water, my tiyos are having their beer, and my little cousins are playing, I and my big cousins go over to the side to sing along to the karaoke, by which I did sing only two songs (next time I'll be listing down my songs so I can't forget em).
The fun was drastic— I felt warm being surrounded by the people I loved and have loved me always. I make sure to take all the photos I can, for remembrance and also to update my dear hivers.
Around 4:30 we packed things; it's time for them to sail back since it's getting late and they don't want to navigate the sea at night. We accompanied them to the beach where the boats were left. And I have watched them, wishing I could go with them, but school is school and life is life.
For a while, I haven't thought about my pendings and deadlines; I just stay in the moment, knowing I cannot pause time or wish things could stay like this for longer. All I know is that I am happy at this very moment.
When it's time to call it a day, my cousin and I have to return back to the city. The afternoon breeze at the tricycle is nostalgic, and my mind wandered off.
With a grateful heart, I ended my day. Thank you, dearest Hivers, for going through my blog. It's amazing to share something as valuable as this moment with all of you. Wishing you a light heart and a happy mind while you're reading this.
Anniestly Yours
