Receiving visitors is always a pleasure that releases positive feelings, makes us happier and calms us down.
Welcome to my blog my dear friends, today I want to share a visit and the process of preparing to receive a person at home.
En mi hogar solo somos mi mamá y yo; aquí en la comunidad he demostrados mis talentos en la cocina 😎 pero siempre ella es mi comensal que me ve con el corazón, entonces dice que todo queda bien. Por ello, cocinar para otra persona para mí es un reto porque como siempre digo me puede quedar bien, pero resulta que los nervios me pueden traicionar y dañar toda la expectativa de una buena comida.
In my home it's just me and my mum; here in the community I have shown my talents in the kitchen 😎 but she is always my foodie who sees me with her heart, so she says that everything looks good. That's why cooking for someone else is a challenge for me because as I always say it can look good, but it turns out that my nerves can betray me and damage the whole expectation of a good meal.
A few days ago a friend visited us and it was the first time she came to my home, so I didn't even know what she ate or what she liked. I was always visiting the social networks and I came across a rice with beans, which I thought was delicious and as I had the ingredients, I proceeded to make it.
To prepare for that meeting, the most important thing was the food. The meeting was scheduled for noon, so in order not to waste time and to have a plan B in case something went wrong, I started cooking very early, almost 4 hours before! and believe me it was the best thing I could do because the time was almost right😋.
While the main course was being made, I remembered that in restaurants there is always a dessert, so I'm a bit more of an expert at this and I started to make the cake. At the moment I realised that I had run out of butter but I made it with oil and it was good, good😎.
There were 7 of us at the meeting, so I made two pots of this rice. While this was cooking, the anecdote was that she called me and asked me if I was bringing a chicken. -If I'm inviting you to eat, how can you bring a chicken?" I thought, but I just told her: "If you eat a lot, bring your chicken" 🤣😅😂.
The hours before, it is also important to have cold drinks, ice available and always something varied to offer; I had juice, soda, water and tea. She decided to bring the 🍻 which I thanked her for because the heat in the area reaches unbearable temperatures.
Another point was to set the table: if I don't receive visitors and I don't go out much, how do I prepare it? heh,heh,heh. Well, I set my plates, I took out my new tablecloths, but then I remembered a day when I saw a table with only the placemats and it seemed more appropriate. My mum would say "Keep it in case someone comes" and that someone showed up 😊.
Of course, after arranging the table, I cleaned up, lit scented candles, put some air freshener, checked the bathrooms, the rooms in case I needed to change or something like that. The time was approaching and I was not dressed!
Well, in the end, I ran to the bathroom, got dressed and just as I was ready they arrived. The atmosphere was festive, of hugs and smiles, so I mellowed a bit from the anxiety I had gone through during the morning.
We set out to eat and I was complimented! The food tasted good, had a good consistency and was well presented. 20 POINTS FOR ME!

As the hours went by, music was our companion, we told anecdotes, jokes, talked about everything, so much so that the hours flew by and by the time we realised it was 6 o'clock in the evening. That night we tried to go to a basketball game but the attempt was unsuccessful so we just said goodbye until next time.
I like different days where I can attend and share my talents. I like people to enjoy, smile and be happy in my home; to feel at ease, comfortable, to feel my home as theirs.
Surrounding myself with positive, sincere, simple people is a challenge I have because not many people are like that or put up with it 😋. That's why I value that time and honour it by serving you as best I can.
