Being promoted from colleagues to friends has been one of the biggest leap one can do in your life.
As for me, I am now working as a public school teacher here in Tuburan and I do not know any people here, no friends and not even family, but gladly, I found new friends which are my colleagues whom I hangout outside of school.
One of our friend transfered homes and we went to the apartment she is renting. After helping out a little bit on the cleaning and organizing of their things, we then decided to end the day with a seafood dinner.
One thing I love most about staying here in Tuburan is the fact that the place is indeed abundant when it comes to seafoods and other sea creatures. The public market has a wide variety of choices and luckily, we had a lot of options today. We chose to purchase some seafoods.
COCONUT JUICE WITH CONDENSED MILK
We chose to have coconut juice with condensed milk for our drinks since we are all been craving for coconut juice for quite some time now.
It so happened that the new apartment where my friend rented was just beside my former student's rented apartment also.
She offered me some coconut which was sold at ₱20.00 each so I bought ten pieces and it was just the perfect juice we have for our dinner.
On the previous weeks, I have been drinking fresh coconut juice every morning since I heard it is a good remedy for UTI. Although I already have my medecines prescribed by my doctor, still I took the chance of drinking coconut juice every morning straight for a week, and I also drank cran berry just very often.
Here are the seafoods we bought for dinner.
SEA URCHIN
One small pale of sea urchin or in Cebuano term, "swaki" is priced at ₱150.00 and we bought it as it was posted on a buy and sell group over social media.
I myself am an avid fan of eating sea urchins. I love the sweet taste and it just makes me feel refreshed. It is best paired with spicy vinegar.
ASSORTED SEA SHELLS
Along with the sea urchins, the seller also sold random sea shells and clams for only ₱50.00 for everything. My partner cooked sea shell soup for us. The hot soup was a perfect sip.
CEVICHE or Raw Fish Salad
My partner also prepared ceviche or in Cebuano term we call this "kinilaw" to "kilaw" is to eat anything raw.
GRILLED SARDINE FISH
Sardine Fish is one of the perfect fishes to grill. It is also very cheap as it sometimes goes down to ₱100 for 3 kilos. This is one of my most favorite fish to grill.
GRILLED PORK BELLY
We also have some grilled pork belly which was marinated in barbeque sauce and was tender and juicy.
Dinner was the perfect time to bond over food and over good stories and laughter as we shared about how our days went.
We also celebrated the fact that my co-worker or my friend, finally decided to move out. They have been married for a year already and this is their first time to move out from her parents' home.
If you were to ask me, it is really much more ideal to move out. Especially when you have already been married. Once you are married, you get a life of your own and you build your own family.
Staying at your parents' house with your husband with you is not a good idea. I am a firm believer that one home only deserves one queen. And that is our mother.
The moment we get married, that is a clear sign to create a life of your own and the priority on the list is to move out.
Moving out does not necessarily mean building your own home. If the budget does not align, renting won't hurt. Rent until you save up money to build your own dream home.
We are so happy she finally decided to move out for it is for her own sanity. Plus, they finally live a peaceful life just her and her husband and their dogs.
As her colleagues and now friends, and somewhat an extended family, we are always here to support them and help them any way we can.
I am happy I found people whom feels like family already even though we are not related by blood.
After our dinner, we then headed home since as teachers, we have a lot of workloads and forms to do. We are just happy we got to go out of our houses every once in a while and be able to spend dinner with friends.
Such a blessing indeed. To life, to love, to blessings, to moving out, to new homes and new beginnings! Ciao! ❤️
