Assalamualaikum and hello to my #family&frinds community. Welcome to another blog. I hope you are all having a great time. I am also doing pretty well. In today's blog I will going to tell you a about the traditional marriage ceremony which took place few days ago in my area. I love in a village of Punjab, Pakistan.
Our marriage ceremonies are bit different from traditional marriages. We visit groom residence before their marriage day. Two or three days before marriage ceremony day, most of friends go to their residence and help groom in doing different kinds of domestic chores.
Prime day for groom and their friends is a walima day. All the friends and family members get ready for this special day. They buy new suits for this particular day.
Few days ago a marriage ceremony of one of my close friend took place in my village. All my friends were waiting for this moment for a long time. We were preparing for this particular moments. At last the special day came.
I got up early in the morning and got ready for marriage ceremony. I wore my favorite white dress (Shalwar Qameez) with a special black wase coat. Combination of white with black wase coat suits me. Here you can see my preperations for marriage in the pictures below.
Then me and my friends departed towards the residence of my friend. The time of Barat was 09 am. So luckily we reached there in time. Actually we
put a garland made of currency notes around the groomβs neck during the wedding ceremony. So I put a garland of one thousand PKR to my friend. Garlands ceremony lasted for almost half an hour and then we returned to walima place.
The groom was sitting on the stage. It is our tradition that close friends of groom sit with them and welcome his guests. So me and my friends sat on the stage with the groom. You can see his shyness in the pictures below. It was a special moment for him and for all of us. I gave my mobile phone to one of my friends and ask him to take few memorable pictures. We were very happy and enjoying the moments. The guest were coming in numbers and it was our duty to welcome them and take them towards walima place where food was being served.
The groom wear a special dress on his wedding ceremony. We call it Boski Shalwar Qameez. His kurta or Qameez is of yellow colour and his Shalwar or pant is of white color. Everyone recognizes groom from his dress.
He wears special shoes called Tilley Wali Khairi on this memorable day. The shoes are something very beautiful and prepared specially for this day.
The groom wears a special traditional turban on his head on the wedding day. This turban is our traditional turban and marriage ceremony cannot take place without this turban. It's color is also yellow and we match its color with dress colour.
Walima food begins after Baraat here in our marriage ceremonies. So walima feast began and we straight way went there for serving food to our honorable guests. Actually it is also falls in our duty to serve food to the guests of groom. So we served food to guests and it took almost two hours.
After walima food we give some amount of money to a person who holds a notebook and write it down. Everyone give money to that particular person and writes his name and his father name Infront of his particular amount that he gives to the person. Ultimately that person collect all the money and hand it over to the groom with a particular notebook. We call this traditionNeondra Tradition. And it is one of the most popular tradition in our marriage ceremonies. Basically it took place at the end of marriage ceremony.
This is all about our marriage ceremonies. I hope you have enjoyed this blog. I couldn't take pictures of walima food because I was given a responsiblity to serve the honorable guests of groom.
