Hello, dear Hivers! I hope you have a joyful weekend. Today, I’ll be sharing with you what I have always been grateful for in my college years. As I've stepped into a university, I’ve made new friends, which makes my college life more meaningful. These people are gems to me, as they’ve provided me with valuable memories that I’ll hold forever in my heart as we part ways in the future.
I’m a province girl, and thinking about studying college in the city somehow scares me. It was my first time stepping out of my comfort zone. What I’ve felt is actually fear. I’m afraid I’ll get left behind, since I haven’t known anybody. I’m also scared of commuting alone; I have motion sickness, and everything’s new to me, which adds to my fear. I am a complete stranger to the place, and it’s a whole new environment for me, which is far too different from the place I grew up in.
My first ever classmate friend is . We’ve done virtual classes for two years because of the COVID-19 outbreak, and before our classes started for the first year, I’d stalked all my classmates in the group chat one by one. As I scrolled through social media, I noticed Grace is friends with my longtime friend from high school. I got even curious because they actually have the same family names; thus, I reached out to her and immediately asked if they’re related. Grace confirmed that they’re first-degree cousins. What a small world it is! I immediately became friends with her.
I took her stolen photos, and this one is when she was reporting in class. I’ve snapped this one because I noticed she was so pretty, even though she got no sleep because she just got off from work here. A student during the day and an employee at night, she was definitely so hardworking that it made me even more proud of her.
Later, we became six. We’ve become close to each other instantly, though we haven’t met personally yet. They’ve made my online learning engaging and fun. They’re nice people, and what I love about this circle is that we have the same wavelength and sense of humor. We’re friends with everybody, but during the first days of face-to-face classes on the 3rd year, it’s us who always hang out since we’re already comfortable with each other considering that we’ve been talking for years.
Given that, whenever we have group activities or projects, during those fresh days of face-to-face classes, we’re always asked if the groupings will be chosen by heart or randomly, and we would always choose by heart. Hahahaha, it’s because we feel more at ease with one another, and since we were all still shy with our other classmates at that time, we believe we can have a more productive output together. But that was only applicable in those early days because it'd be very unfair for others.
One of the significant outputs we’ve made together was a business plan for Kasa d’ Luna in Mandaue City, Cebu, a start-up business. As marketing students, we are inclined to conduct business plans to help businesses, especially start-ups, gain a competitive edge. We’ve made several papers for different businesses, and this was the one on which we six worked together.
As time went by, everyone already built connections and became comfortable with each other. Our bond was tightened through communication and collaboration through random group activities, paperwork, and performances, which has paved the way for us to draw closer. After stressful work and exams, we sometimes go out and treat ourselves to a student-friendly Jollibee promo, Mix and Match.
Together, we enjoy taking photos so much. They meant a lot to me, as they have enabled me to effortlessly adjust to my surroundings. College life must’ve been super tough and dull if it weren’t for these wonderful people. I’m grateful to have landed in this amazing and non-toxic environment. Learning has been fun because of our deep friendships.
Thanks for reading, dear Hivers! I’m constantly and immensity grateful for your support. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. See you around! ( ˘ ³˘)♥
