Come with me as I share the moments that happened on my Christmas! It is so fulfilling to share how jolly, noisy, and loud our big family was.
Christmas is the best time of the year to bond with your family! Share gifts, shower love, bond with your loved ones, and celebrate the birth of Jesus. They say Christmas is not the same as the last time when it was more exciting, fun, and noisy unlike it is today. But in reality, it's the people who have high expectations about Christmas, because of our life circumstances or us getting older that sometimes we can't appreciate the gifts we receive. Now, we are more on who has the better gifts. It is now more about being fancy about who has more food prepared. We expect too much about how Christmas will be celebrated today because we live now on social media. We see our holidays based on what we see other people turning them into.
But for me, this year's Christmas was a dream come true because I hoped we could bring those bonds and moments back then. Gathering with my big family, sharing waves of laughter, and making and creating new memories have filled my heart with warmth and joy. From the excitement of the gift-giving to the cozy nights with loved ones, every moment has been precious.
On December 23, I went somewhere to buy some gifts for my family. The people are so busy buying gifts for their loved ones, the lines where you pay were so long that I got tired of walking and waiting because of so many people. But overall, seeing their gifts inside the paper bag makes me so happy, and I realize that I can finally give gifts to my family with my own money.
Gift giving
On Christmas Eve I greeted my family, showed my love, and hugged them. I surprise them with my gifts and see them happy with what they got. It melts my heart with joy, even if it's a simple gift. We just had an exchanged gift that night and some small talk. My mother gave me a bag; my sister bought me a bag; and their dog got me a T-shirt! It's a token for taking good care of their dogs😆 we also video-called my brother, who was far away from us at that time because of his work, but when it was his break week my brother went home and brought me two sandals. Even if I simply joke that he will buy me sandals for my OJT soon😆.
The next day, my mother's side plans on having a Christmas party at my cousin's house. So we gathered there and we brought each other gifts and played some games. Me and my cousin plan on buying each other's gifts beforehand so we also exchange our gifts. I got a long-sleeved top and she got a dress from me because that's what she likes.
We had so much fun hearing their non-stop laughter because of the games. It's like music to my ears. I won't get tired of listening to it.
GAMES
There are games for children, teenagers, seniors, partners, and more. As for the kids and teens game, they played a color game in which you danced around and when the music stopped, you'd choose a color. Also, teenagers played the don't drop the balloon game. As for the seniors or my aunties, they played a bato-bato pick with a twist in which they would pair themselves and turn their backs on each other and would do the bato-bato pick. As for the partners game or a husband and wife game, they play if you're happy and you know it clap your hands. This is a game in which you will hit your partner/ husband's head and their private parts while they cover their heads and private parts with their hands. Everyone was involved and no one was left behind so we just enjoyed the moment and cherished every laugh we shared because it was the first time again that we gathered all before our last gathering and non-stop family arguments back then.
It's so nice to see that we’re returning to our family gathering traditions with no hatred, no shouting, and fighting with each other. Just spreading positivity and letting the other generations experience and see what our family was like before.
