Hello everyone, it’s been a while! I really missed posting blogs here on my account, but now I’m back to share my day with my best friend!
During the third week of November, my best friend Ashley and I had a random idea—we thought of cooking grilled pork, or what we call in Bisaya as “sinugbang baboy.” We planned to do it during Christmas break. But by the last week of November, she told me that we could have it in the first week of December since she wasn’t sure if she would be free during Christmas break because she might stay in the city.
We set the date for the first Saturday of December. I was very excited, but then by December 5, there was an announcement about a new typhoon entering the Philippines. Even until Saturday, the weather was still bad. Eventually, the sun started to show, even though it was still raining. My tito's girlfriend suggested that we should go ahead with our plan. Ashley agreed, and by 1 p.m., we were already on our way to a nearby barangay that had a public market. They sell affordable and fresh meat there, so we went.
When we arrived at the market, we were both laughing because it was our first time buying meat without someone who knows how to choose good meat.
I immediately called my tito's girlfriend and asked her which part we should buy and where we should look for their trusted vendor who always sells good pork. Not long after, we found the vendor she mentioned, bought 1 kilo of meat, and got 2 packs of charcoal for grilling.
We also looked for a store that sold french fries because my tito's girlfriend gave me money to buy some for our snack later. I was sweating a lot even though the weather was still gloomy lol. But I still enjoyed walking around the market with Ashley.
I also bought a few errands like hair dye (update: my hair didn’t color much, I might dye it again before or after Christmas lol) and a small drawing book for school stuff.
(money update after buying everything😢😢....by the way, we also bought spices and ingredients to make the grilled pork taste better.)
We went home right after. We enjoyed the whole ride, especially with our hair flying everywhere lol.
But as we were getting closer to our stop, heavy rain suddenly poured. We didn’t bring an umbrella, so that was a problem.
Good thing there was a sari-sari store nearby where we could stay and wait for the rain to stop. We had random conversations while waiting, then went home right away since it was almost 2 p.m.
When we arrived, we didn’t waste any time and immediately marinated the pork we bought.
After I marinated the pork, Ashley and my grandmother prepared the grill basket (which was almost broken but still usable hahaha). When my grandmother said it was ready for grilling, we started right away. It was difficult because the grilling basket was broken, so not all the pork fit at once. It took us a long time to grill everything perfectly.
When it was done, I chopped the grilled pork into small pieces, with help from my grandmother so it would be faster.
It was already past lunchtime and we were all hungry, so we ate immediately. It was paired with a tasty not so spicy sauce🤭
After that, we washed the dishes, played with my little cousin, talked with Ashley again, and then ate our french fries snack.
That’s all, everyone! I hope you enjoyed reading my blog, and thank you for spending time to read it! I really enjoyed my bonding time with Ashley, and I hope you also get the chance to have moments like this with your friend or friends.
See you in my next blogs!!🤍
