Para el venezolano, se celebran las vísperas más que el día como tal de navidad o de año nuevo, y este año la navidad no fue la excepción, comenzamos con mi familia teniendo un almuerzo navideño, que conto de pasticho y pan de huevo, y pasé la tarde compartiendo con mis tías y abuela materna, entre música, bailes y risas. Vale destacar que, incluso me dio tiempo de ir al centro comercial más cercano, en búsqueda de unas cosas a último momento que necesitaba mi pareja.
For Venezuelans, the days leading up to Christmas or New Year's are celebrated more than the actual day, and this year Christmas was no exception. My family and I started with a Christmas lunch, which included lasagna and egg bread, and I spent the afternoon with my aunts and maternal grandmother, enjoying music, dancing, and laughter. It's worth noting that I even had time to go to the nearest shopping mall to pick up a few last-minute things my partner needed.

Ah, paso para recordar que el pan de jamón lo hice un día antes, con la receta de mi hermana, quien es panadera. Y los platillos al horno, los realizó el tío de mi pareja, que es español. Y quiero agregar esto, debido a que, así es el venezolano, hemos aceptado; culturas, costumbres, y las diversas tonalidades de sabores como si fueran nuestros, adaptándolos algunos a nuestro propio estilo.
As night fell, my partner and I went to her family's house for a delicious Christmas dinner. It consisted of roasted pork leg and chicken, hallacas, and ham bread. Oh, and I should mention that I made the ham bread the day before, using my sister's recipe; she's a baker. My partner's uncle, who is Spanish, made the other dishes. I want to add this because, as is typical of Venezuelans, we've embraced cultures, customs, and diverse flavors as if they were our own, adapting some of them to our own style.
