Los meses previos a nuestra migración, me dediqué a explorar por la web, algunas ciudades cercanas a la capital donde pudiéramos radicarnos.

Siempre he tratado de evitar vivir en ciudades grandes, para darle a mis hijos la oportunidad de desarrollarse sin rutinas apremiantes por el tránsito, las largas distancias para llegar de un punto a otro, e inclusive la forma de ser de las personas.

Fue así como decidimos permanecer un tiempo en La Plata, una ciudad grande también, pero menos estresante que Buenos Aires.

Muy cerca de ahí, en una zona llamada Gonnet, nos conseguimos con este “parque temático” llamado La República de los niños, y decidimos ir a visitarlo un fin de semana.

Las vías de acceso en transporte público son varias, y tienen un estacionamiento amplio para quienes van en su vehículo.

Lo primero que pensé al entrar, fue que probablemente así se vería un país regido por niños: muchas áreas verdes, todo colorido y espacios para correr y jugar.

Los edificios, que son 35 en total, fueron hechos a escala de un niño de 10 años, por lo que si eres muy alto toca pasar un poco encorvado a las áreas de exhibición.

Esta República consta de 53 hectáreas, en las que se encuentran ubicados edificios estilo museos, en los que se puede ver parte de la historia argentina, su cultura, y algunos sitios de comida en los que se puede compartir un rato.

Las tiendas de souvenirs abundan a lo largo del paseo.

Justo en el boulevard donde están ubicadas las tiendas, de repente, apareció la banda de la ciudad, deleitando a todos a su paso, e invitando con su marcha al anfiteatro, en el que se presentan shows musicales o teatro infantil.

Entre las actividades que se pueden disfrutar se encuentran la visita al Avión Boeing 737 (que fue hasta hace algunos años, el avión presidencial) y simuladores de vuelo, también al barco, el paseo en el tren y los juegos mecánicos que no pueden faltar.

Si quieres disfrutar de estas áreas, debes tener en cuenta que solo están abiertas los feriados y fines de semana.

Visitar también el área de la Casa de Gobierno, será divertido para ellos, pues tienen la posibilidad de ser los legisladores de la República durante su estadía en el área.

Es importante llegar temprano para poder disfrutar de todo en un solo paseo, contando con que abren desde las 7 am, puedes caminar el parque, tomarte fotos con la estatua de Mafalda y ubicar un sitio de sombra para hacer un picnic, antes de que llegue la mayoría de la gente, pues es muy frecuentado inclusive en invierno.

Entre las anécdotas que se destacan de este parque que se construyó entre 1949 y 1951, año en el que fue inaugurado, está la visita de Walt Disney a sus instalaciones, y de lo que se dice, le sirvió como inspiración para la creación de su primer parque temático.

Nosotros ese día, a pesar del frío, pasamos una tarde amena con los chicos, conocimos un sitio agradable al que podremos regresar y descubrir cosas nuevas.

The months prior to our migration, I explored on the web, some cities near the capital where we could settle down.

I have always tried to avoid living in big cities, in order to give my children the opportunity to develop without the stressful routines of traffic, the long distances to get from one point to another, and even the way people are.

That is how we decided to stay for a while in La Plata, a big city too, but less stressful than Buenos Aires.

Very close to there, in an area called Gonnet, we came across this "theme park" called La República de los Niños, and we decided to visit it for a weekend.

There are several ways to get there by public transportation, and they have a large parking lot for those who go in their vehicles.

The first thing I thought when I entered was that this is probably what a country ruled by children would look like: lots of green areas, all colorful and spaces to run and play.

The buildings, of which there are 35 in total, were made to the scale of a 10-year-old child, so if you are very tall you have to slouch a bit in the exhibition areas.

If you want to enjoy these areas, keep in mind that they are only open on holidays and weekends.

Visiting the Government House area will also be fun for them, as they have the chance to be the legislators of the Republic during their stay in the area.

It is important to arrive early to be able to enjoy everything in one walk, since they are open from 7 am, you can walk around the park, take pictures with the statue of Mafalda and find a shady place to have a picnic before most people arrive, since it is very popular even in winter.

That day, in spite of the cold weather, We spent a pleasant afternoon with the kids, we got to know a nice place where we will be able to come back and discover new things.
