Hello my fellow hivers! How's it going? I hope everything's good 😉. I will be sharing you a story about my wonderful experience at the recent Fun Run event held by IPI Run Half Marathon.
One of the biggest Fun Run events held by IPI had at least 16,000 runners. The fun run had five categories for the runners: 21 km, 16 km, 10 km, 5 km, and lastly, 3 km. I'm one of the 2000 runners in the 21 km category, and we started early in the morning. At exactly 2:00 A.M., our run started, and we only have 4 hours before the cutoff for our category. Hours after our run, the other categories have also started. We haven't had a proper sleep since we had to travel early, and also it rained heavily that day. It was so unfortunate; the entire time we were running, it rained.
I've already planned to join this event a long time ago. After conquering the DITO 12 km category, I set my eyes on the IPI 21 km category, and I said to myself, I will finish that long run. But before the run event started, we prepared for 2 months for the long run for us to be able to achieve our goal to at least finish in 2 hours. All the hard work have paid off as we all finish the run under 2hrs. Running has become my hobby and daily activity, as it helps me to focus my thinking, and also it helps me strengthen my body and live a healthy life.
Before the run started, we prepared our bodies first, as it rained so early in the morning, and we still had time to warm up, and we waited for the rain to stop before we went to the starting line. It was full of people of different ages, like children, teenagers, young adults, adults, and elderly. I was amazed by the children and elderly and how they managed to endure the long run while it rained so hard and there was no place we could cover and it was so cold. We were all wet, but still no one dared to stop in the middle of the run, and that gave me more courage to keep going even though I was so tired because of the rain. My shoes were all wet, and it was so hard to run because they were so heavy, but I managed somehow to finish the 21 km.
We all manage to finish under sub 2hrs despite the rain and the coldness it bring. It was so exhausting, and it was so hard because we all felt constipated due to the changing weather. Truly a privilege to be able to join this kind of event and to see how many people joined. Cebu city became the running capital of the Philippines and truly a great feeling to know that we are all chasing to become a healthy person. After this, I'm now planning to join the next fun run, HOKA, and another half marathon, and after that, I will be eyeing that marathon run. Sooner or later, I'll conquer that marathon.
