With the very good morning Hive community, today I bring you a post that for me is very special, I come to talk about a friendship that over the years has transcended to be a brotherhood, because yes gentlemen, for me friends are the brothers we choose, and when you have more than 15 years of friendship even more so, so today I come to tell you the story of the sister that life has given me, my best friend, who at all times has been by my side if not physically at least spiritually.
My best friend and I met in 2005/2006, she just entered the same school as me to attend the last grade of elementary school, at that time we did not become friends, we hardly said hello and goodbye, I was a very shy person and she was outgoing and very funny (still is) so you could say that we had different social groups, she was friends with almost everyone in the classroom and I instead had only 3 real friends. By this I don't mean that I didn't get along well with others, but rather that I wasn't as open with my other classmates as with those I was closer to.
Our friendship as such began when we started high school, in the first year I moved to a couple of blocks from her house, then it became common that we started doing homework together or she would go to my house or me to hers just to hang out, curiously we both have very different tastes, She at that time was a fan of High School Musical, Twilight, and Somos Tu y yo (Venezuelan soap opera) and I was more into Anime and Rock, however despite that little by little we built a strong friendship, we got to the point where my family adopted her as a daughter and I became another daughter for her family. An anecdote that I will never forget happened when I was 15 years old, at that time I was grounded and I was not allowed to go to a party of a classmate, however, she came to my house to ask permission for me to accompany her, and only because she asked for it, I was allowed to go. They allowed me to go, my dad took us to the party and when it was 1 a.m. her parents started calling her to go back home, my dad went to pick us up and when we arrived at her house and we got off to leave her, my friend's dad told us "If he knew you were with Sharolt, he would let you stay longer".
Another anecdote from the same time was when she turned 15, her dad came up with a plan to throw her a surprise party, the idea was that none of her classmates at that time would congratulate her, and he would take her tricked to eat at the place where the party would be, obviously she asked for my help to organize everything, and I gladly accepted, I can still remember her surprised face and her tears when she entered the place deeply sad because she thought we had all forgotten about her birthday and she got us all there to the best cry of "Surprise", curiously she and I were only 12 days apart, then a little more than a week later we were celebrating my 15th birthday, curiously what was going to be something simple turned into a 3 day party, because first we had a sleepover with several girlfriends, where one of our star anecdotes happened, it turns out that we both suffer from asthma and in the pajamas we were laughing and she had an attack, then suddenly we were in the middle of the night just her and me awake while I was holding the nebulizer mask and we were laughing at nonsense jokes. The second day was a pool party where another friend had invited us, so on the day of my party as such we were all tanned from the sun, however, it was a fun weekend that we will never forget.
Then we began to study the last years of high school, it is supposed that at this time is when you choose the university career you want, curiously we both had said we wanted to study Architecture or Civil Engineering together, however it was not so, she decided to take the exam to try to study medicine in Merida, I instead got a scholarship to study Graphic Design in Maracaibo, although at that time our paths separated our friendship remained as strong as ever, and although we spent weeks without talking the moment we got in touch everything was the same as always. The fact that we knew we were not going to study together did not stop us from enjoying our last year, the last day of school was one of the most memorable of our adolescence it was a whole day of continuous partying that started at noon when together with my then-boyfriend we went to pick her up at her house to leave the school, until well into the early morning when angry calls from our parents made us end the party. Then followed the graduation, and later the party, we lived all those important moments together with the promise that we would always be together, that our friendship would overcome everything and that no matter the distance between us we would always be there for each other.
And so it was, whenever we could we saw each other, I saw her in Merida while she was studying, I spent Christmas and New Year's Eve at her house, whenever there was an opportunity to be together we took it without thinking about it, and when it was not possible to see each other we talked by messages or Facebook, anyway, we could be in contact was good, I told her my problems and she told me hers, her excitement when she found out she would be an aunt was as genuine as if it was her blood, and the first time she saw my baby she was deeply moved, when I got sick she was there to reach out to me and help me heal, she has accompanied me in so many moments of my life that our relationship is much more than a friendship, we can now say to anyone without the slightest hint of doubt that we are sisters, from other mothers and fathers, but sisters who will be together until the end of our days.
