JOB HUNT DIARIES
Hey, guys! I just wanted to share our short story as graduating students on the job hunt here in Metro Manila...

As graduating students, it's that time of our lives when we're about to graduate and dive into the real world. And let me tell you, finding a job here in Metro Manila is quite an adventure!
The competition out here is no joke. It's like a battle royale, and we're all fighting for our dream job. We started off by exploring opportunities in Taguig City, because it's close to our home and has a lot to offer. I mean, for sure you have heard of Bonifacio Global City, a.k.a BGC? It's a city with all the fancy stuff you can imagine.
BGC is our go-to place for food trips and exploring when we have free time. But now, as graduating students, we're ready to level up and embrace the world of adulting... we need to work, work, work!

Living in the city is not easy, though. Sure, there are a lot of job opportunities all around, but let's face it, finding work these days is tough, especially when you're fresh out of college and lack experience. We see job postings on Facebook looking for fresh graduates with 5-10 years of experience for just Php 8,000 monthly? Lol. We do hope they found what they were looking for ‘cause that job posting is really a joke. 😅
Now, let me share a little story with you...
My group of friends and I made a plan to find work, even if it wasn't directly related to our fields of study. We wanted to gain some experience, broaden our horizons, and of course, start saving some cash (although that's easier said than done with the current inflation rate, am I right?)
Before hitting the streets and going for those walk-in interviews, we scoured the internet for job postings. We’re excited and nervous to start applying! Excited because it is the beginning of a new chapter in our lives, and nervous because we’re job-hunting newbies!
One of the first places we visited was Market! Market! and SM Aura Mall. It's not just a typical shopping center filled with stores and fast food joints, but there are also companies inside.

And guess what, all we had with us for job applications was around 100-200 pesos, just enough to buy something to satisfy our hunger, haha! This also included our transportation allowance. After looking for openings, we bought some Lil Orbits donuts for 60 pesos per dozen. These are small donuts with flavors like cinnamon, chocolate, strawberry, and more. 🤤
So there we were, buying donuts before heading to SM Aura to apply for jobs. But unfortunately, we arrived just in time for the cut-off. We decided to plan another visit later this week because the staff informed us that they were still hiring and welcoming newbies like us.

From what we experienced, hunting can be an adventure in itself. It drains your energy, time, and wallet! You read that right. Job hunting can make you so hungry, both literally and financially. But you know what's awesome? Having friends who are ready to support each other throughout the process.

So, here we are, still in the midst of the job search. We're undecided about which direction to take since there are so many opportunities in Taguig alone. We haven't even explored all the buildings and companies with open positions yet. 😆
We will share more about our journey once we finally land that dream job (fingers crossed, please!🤞). And we’ll give advice for all you fellow graduates out there who might be going through the same.
Do you have any advice for people who are new to job hunting like us? 😊
