This happened a week before the earthquake and even if the event was about two months late, I still want to talk about it because it was such a memorable day.
Before anything else, here is a little background. My aunt who has been living in Canada for years finally decided to come home to the Philippines with her husband and two kids. They chose to stay here for good, so they planned a christening celebration for their children to welcome them into the Catholic faith.
We went to the church at around eight in the morning since the mass would start at nine. Once the priest began the mass, we listened to his homily and followed the flow of a regular Sunday mass. When it ended, we went to the front to serve as godmothers to my nephews. My other aunt gave us candles to light while the priest blessed my nephews and also the other kids that have their christening that day.
After the ceremony, we headed to Mar Azul Restaurant, just near the church, for the reception. Since it was also my aunt’s birthday, she decided to celebrate both events on the same day.
When we arrived, we played games and shared our birthday messages for her. We even won some fun prizes which made everything more exciting.I even won a bread toaster lol. By the time the games were over, we were already hungry, so we finally ate and enjoyed all the food.
Once we finished eating, we hung out with the family. My uncles started their usual drinking session, so my cousin and I had more time to talk and bond over random topics. We did not stay at the restaurant for too long because the adults planned to continue the celebration at my aunt’s house. Since I am still a minor, I was not allowed to join the after party. That part was a bit disappointing but it is what it is.
And that was how my day went during my nephews’ christening and my aunt’s birthday celebration. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and see you in my next one. Ciao!
