Saying goodbye to 2023 and welcoming 2024 / Despidiendo el 2023 y dándole la bienvenida al 2024 [ENG/ESP]

In particular, on the 31st we went in the morning to a cousin, we all bought a combo of hot dog and that was what she ate at lunchtime. We talked a lot, laughed at my nephew's witticisms and when the afternoon came, we left to go home, we did not stay with her because it is very difficult to be there at night, plus we had to be aware of the pets.

When we arrived at the house, we changed our clothes, since the ones we had on were not suitable for the occasion of the night. My nephew looked very cute, as did my mother, whom I thank God for allowing me to share with her.

When we finished getting ready and taking some pictures by the tree, we went to my aunt, who lives next to our house and we have the custom that on the 24th we go to my mom's family and on the 31st, to my dad's family. Anyway, when we arrived we were talking and after a while my uncle served dinner, which was a Venezuelan style Christmas dish, chicken salad, pernil, ham bread and of course, a hallaca.

I ordered little salad and pernil, because besides the fact that it was very late and I am not used to eating much at night, it was also to manage to eat it all, since my aunt tends to criticize that one leaves food, that this, that this, that the other. Well, I didn't pay attention to what she said; I managed to eat it except for the ham bread, I didn't like the texture at all, it seemed to be raw, and the hallaca had filled me up a lot.

When we ate the salty food, my aunt gave us a piece of black forest cake, I gave part of it to my sister, because that one is with candied fruits and I don't like that at all. At that, we sat down, resting the food and waited for 12 o'clock, but my nephew was super excited, he had my aunt exhausted, the candy activated him, I don't know where he gets so much energy.

With some inconveniences that arose, we managed to spend a pleasant day and night in company, although I did get melancholy, because I will miss many of the pets that left, but I want to remember them with a smile for this year and take care of their little brothers and sisters with lots of love. I hope this year will be one of many blessings for everyone, Happy New Year 2024!

En lo particular, el 31 fuimos en la mañana a que una prima, compramos entre todos un combo de perro caliente y eso fue lo que se comió en la hora del almuerzo. Hablamos mucho, nos reímos de las ocurrencias de mi sobrino y al llegar la tarde, nos retiramos para ir a la casa, no nos quedamos con ella pues es muy difícil estar en la noche ahí, aunado que teníamos que estar pendientes de las mascotas.

Al llegar a la casa, nos cambiamos de ropa, pues la que teníamos puesta no era para la ocasión de la noche. Nos arreglamos, maquillamos y demás cosas, mi sobrino se veía muy lindo, al igual que mi mamá, del cual agradezco a Dios por permitirme poder compartir con ella.

Ya cuando terminamos de arreglarnos y tomarnos unas fotos junto al árbol, nos dirigimos a donde mi tía, quien vive a lado de nuestra casa y tenemos la costumbre de que los 24 vamos a que la familia de mi mamá y los 31, a la de mi papá. En fin, al llegar estuvimos hablando y al rato mi tío sirve la cena, la cual un plato navideño al estilo venezolano, una ensalada de gallina, pernil, pan de jamón y por supuesto, una hallaca.

Yo pedí poca ensalada y pernil, pues además de que era muy tarde y no estoy acostumbrada de comer mucho en la noche, también era para lograr comérmelo todo, ya que mi tía tiende a criticar que uno deja comida, que esto, que lo otro. Bueno, ya yo no les prestó atención a lo que dice; logre comérmelo menos el pan de jamón, no me gustó para nada la textura, pareciera que estuviese crudo, aunado que la hallaca me había llenado mucho.

Al comer lo salado, mi tía nos dio un pedazo de torta de selva negra, yo le di una parte a mi hermana, porque esa es con frutas confitadas y eso no me gustan para nada. En eso, nos sentamos, reposando la comida y esperamos que se hiciera las 12, pero mi sobrino estaba super alborotado, tenía a mi tía agotada, el dulce lo activó, no sé dónde saca tanta energía.

Con algunos inconvenientes que se presentaron, logramos pasar un día y noche agradable y en compañía, aunque si me entró la melancolía, porque voy a extrañar muchos a las mascotas que partieron, pero los quiero recordar con una sonrisa para este año y cuidar a sus hermanitos con mucho amor.
