It's yet another day in Nigeria where it's expected that her citizens come out in mass to exercise their civil rights.
Unfortunately, the turnout was very poor! Well, this is expected because what transpired in the last presidential election, which took place on February 25, 2023, was nothing to write home about.
Many people were disenfranchised in the last election; some were beaten up if you weren't voting for their choice candidate; there was burning of ballot papers; lots of vote buying; and high rigging of the election. The people felt that if their vote cannot count, then what's the need to waste their precious time and energy when those in authority will rig the election to their favor?
Well, the attitude of the Nigerian government and INEC over the election is so demoralizing to the citizens of Nigeria. I really understand how many people feel about not having a fair and free election in our country but I am of the opinion that we remain PATRIOTIC. This is my decision anyway, and I hope that one day my vote will count.
This is me while voting today.
Despite all odds, I still went out today to cast my vote!
Here in my polling unit in Lagos State, Nigeria, there were no issues while voting, but I have received a good number of reports of negative issues that happened in other polling units in Lagos and other states in Nigeria. Some people had to go back to their houses to avoid casualties. I have seen destroyed ballot papers on the net with videos to back up what transpired today. Similar things happened in the last presidential election, and that's why many people relaxed in their various homes rather than coming out with positive energy to cast their vote.
Like I said before, the low turnout is expected; I only hope that somehow other countries can step in and assist Nigeria where possible! I crave for a better Nigeria!!!.
Together, we can make Nigeria great again!
