Blessed is he who thinks of the poor; In the bad day the Lord will deliver him.
2 Jehovah will keep it, and give it life; He will be blessed on earth, And you will not hand him over to the will of his enemies. Psalm 41: 1-2 King James Version (KJV)
There is no doubt that the rampant global economic crisis has led to the growth of poverty throughout the planet's population.
It is painful to see so many families in extreme poverty as the uncontrollable result of the economic chaos and its influence by the pandemic.
Poverty is on the rise and expert forecasts indicate that this will continue to affect the entire world population in the coming years.
While it is true that poverty was a problem before the pandemic, it is also true that many people who lived with economic stability have been affected by the problem of the health crisis, which has led them to lose their jobs and they enter the list of poverty or extreme poverty.
The world lives in emergency, there is a humanitarian alarm, everything seems to be slipping out of the hands of the competent organizations and the increase in people asking in the streets is astonishing.
In the same way, the increase in suicides has been very worrying, as well as of people who enter the so-called crisis of depression.
In the streets of our own cities you see this social phenomenon of extreme poverty. At the bakery doors we can see children of different ages, barefoot, shirtless and with their sad faces, asking for bread or some money to live on.
We see the same situation every day when people come to our doors asking for something to eat. This situation, as I told you, has hit many households, which enjoyed a certain economic prestige.
In my particular case, this has hit me enormously. I live on a pension that only reaches 400 thousand bolivars, which is equivalent to 6.25 Steem and we all know the cost of the basic basket. With this I want to tell you that the life situation of a Venezuelan is not easy at all. However, when someone comes to my door asking, God always allows us to have some provision to share with those most in need.
You will say the same, dear reader. You too have your own story to tell about how you help the poor, despite the great economic crisis we face.
What we must be clear about is that God does not take anything, which he does not return later. When we think of those most in need, the Lord says, "He will save us from the bad day and protect us from our own enemies."
This is the trust that we must have in God, that if we love our neighbor, then we also show love to God. That if someone gives a glass of water to someone who needs it, they also give it to God. In other words, thinking of the poor is having the love of God for each other.
