I have met people who do not believe in miracles. It is typical of the irreligious to hold such belief. But it beats my imagination, whenever I see an acclaimed believer toeing such line.
I may not know the foundational framework of other religions, but I can boldly make some assertions concerning Christianity, the faith I practice.
Christianity needs no further definition, as the name is assertive enough.
It is the faith of Christ.
An interesting point to note is that, the name was not forged by the practitioners of the faith themselves, it was rather given by the onlookers who observed their culture.
To the observers, the culture of this group of beings was in tandem with the ideals of Christ, who grew up among them.
It must have been apparent to the onlookers that these group of people, were preaching and practicing the faith of Christ.
As it is with humanity, we customarily give names to sects so that they could be distinct.
In this case, men who were apparently seen to have been indoctrinated in the profession of Christ's faith, were named Christians.
The disciples of Jesus were first called Christians in the city of Antioch, many years after the bodily departure of Christ.
What else would have made the onlookers to give them such a name, if not that the workings of Christ was obviously seen among them?
Those guys might have said and done what Christ said and did.
Obviously, they were reputed for upholding the deeds of Christ.
Talking of the deeds of Christ, the miraculous is its fulcrum.
Everything surrounding the person of Jesus points to the miraculous.
If there was a Christ, then there were miracles. If there is Christianity, then there are miracles.
Miracles cannot be explained away from Christianity.
I will call miracles the thread that knits the fabric of the Christian faith.
And that is for some reasons;
*The clear prediction of Christ's birth in the scriptures, by different prophets in different dispensations of time.
-The virgin's birth.
-The miraculous workings of Christ while on earth.
-His death, burial, resurrection, abd ascension.
It is okay not to believe these, but to believe all of these and yet deny the existence of miracles, is mentally agitating.
I am done with the doubters.
To you, who believes in miracles, Christmas brings a wonderful reminder of that which you believe.
Don't get drowned in the pool of merriment, while forgetting the major element.
Christmas is a great reminder that miracles do happen.
It is therefore, the best time to stretch out the arms of your faith to receive a miracle from your Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ.
Merry Christmas friends.
