Christmas is around the corner.
I was to prepare my pupils for a presentation on school's carol party.
I opted for spoken word poetry.
Inspiration was hard to come by, for me write mine.
Mind you, I didn't have days to brainstorm, I was informed late. I just had a night to come up with a piece.
I was about to use some other person's work to train my pupils on how to present a spoken word poetry.
Just then an inspiration came, and I quickly penned the lines below down.
I hope you'll get the essence of Christmas by reading through.
He had you in mind
when he stepped down
from majesty on high
rejecting his throne
but accepting to be cloned
like a man
Just like you and I.
He had you in mind
when he despised the shame
to change the game
that you might have a name
in eternal Hall of fame.
what you saw
was a helpless babe in a manger
but that was your saviour
who had come to save you from danger.
The danger of sin and death
The greatest virus,
but they won't tell us
that it's only the saviour that can save us,
from it.
The wise saw and forsook
their treasures
not out of pressure
to them it was a pleasure
to behold a love without measure.
The father's love revealed in humanity
to give man eternity
seems like an irony
because of the humility.
But that was God's power
unto salvation.
He ransomed a creation
that needed redemption.
By that love,
he that believes is saved
from shame
for life eternal, is ascribe to his name.
Lemme ask,
When you hear of Christmas what comes to your mind?
It could be the melodies and harmonies of carol, the rhyme of this parol
or the fairies of santa.
But that's not the matter
when you hear of Christmas look away from noise and listen to the voice
of the father saying
"child you are in my mind".
Christmas is the father saying that
he has you in mind.
