5 I am calling up memories of your sincere and unqualified faith (the leaning of your entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness), [a faith] that first lived permanently in [the heart of] your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am [fully] persuaded, [dwells] in you also.
6 That is why I would remind you to stir up (rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you by means of the laying on of my hands [with those of the elders at your ordination].
7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
The believer's life and walk in this world is that of faith for by faith we were redeemed and by faith, shall we lay hold of the incurruptible crown of glory that the Lord Jesus would give to us. Infact, the entire life transactions of a believer is defined and made possible only by faith.
This is why we must strife to get faith and sustain it even in times as this. We must consciously feed our faith and that by the Word of God (Romans 10: 17). What we feed is what would grow and what is starved would certainly die.
The noise in the environment and over the media is that which speaks and breeds panic and fear in the hearts of men. This is the opposite of what should define the life of the believer in Christ Jesus.
There are several and countless scriptures with assuring words of encouragement and promises of God which cannot be broken. Remember, God's word is yeah and Amen. One thing God would not do is that He won't lie.
In Isaiah 55:10-11, we have an assurance that every word that proceeds out of thr mouth of God must accomplish the heartbeat of God. We must therefore hope and depend on these promises knowing fully well that God would accomplish them in us through Christ.
Our focal scripture points to a testimony of unwaivering faith that was found in Eunice and Lois which was also transferred to Timothy. This is the faith that beats fear, timidity and panic.
This faith is defined by soundnsss of mind, power and love. Let this be what drives us these season and we see great testimonies.
God bless you.
