...I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning....- 1 John 2: 14 (Berean Literal Bible).
Reading the above verse of the scripture opens my mind to the need for a fatherly guide in life. This is because fathers are meant to have known the The Father of fathers from the beginning.
In every purpose to be actualized, the beginning is essential as it forms the foundation upon which every other blessing is achieved. Fathers represent the custodians of the blueprint of the course to be followed.
Let's take our minds back to the role of fathers as stated in scripture in Deuteronomy 6 how God gave father a singular role of transfering the guide for living to the next generation.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
I was reflecting on the book which cover is used above written by a Nigerian born fire-branded evangelist Emma Isong. The book is a call to the believer to gird up his loins to do the unusual. There are grounds to be covered and there are innovations to be broken. Yet, the believer must understood that God had won from the beginning and there are several succes stories we can learn from.
Sometimes, our experience is not sufficient to inform our decision for the next level, we therefore need mentors whose stories can be of great lessons to us. Bible says that "there is safety in the place of counsel". Sound counsel is a blessing receivable from mentors.
I remember the terrible investment mistake I made in 2014, I lost over $1000 in my first investment attempt because I lacked counsel. I onboarded the business flight without having a guide or someone I could talk to. I learnt my lessons but they were painful. I don't want to see any younger person go through such trauma I went through which almost wrecked my faith.
I have a personal challenge to raise the enterprising and creative believer. This has been an age long burden which God each day opense up for learning and furnishing. I will share more details soonest.
As it connects to this blog, we all need mentors and those who will gladly offer us their shoulders to stand each time we get to a seeming limiting line. Many have crossed the line and are on the Grand stand watching (Hebrews 12: 1-2).
Of all, Jesus is the perfect model to look upon. He lived and He conquered. We too can conquer.
