In Revelations 3: 20, there is a record of God speaking to one of the churches and telling them that He (God) is standing at the door knocking and would come in if anyone would hear his (God) voice and open the door, God has promised to come in and dine with such. Many may see this verse of the scripture as a literal door of a building made of wood or iron. We trust God would give us a deeper understanding - Amen.
Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. - (New Living Translation)
From creation, God has always yearned to fellowship with man and He (God) actually created man for fellowship. Man was created for God's pleasure, the reason He made us in His image and likeness. Though sin made man lose that unique image, through Christ, our lives can be made anew (2 Chorinthians 5: 17).
The reason God wants to make our lives anew through Christ is because he wants to stay within us. He wants to make His abode in us. He wants to dine with us as friends with friends.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? - 1 Corinthians 6:19
The blood of Jesus Christ was for the redemption of mankind and to purchase man from slavery to the world and sin into kingdom of light where CHrist Jesus is the Light of life.
Jesus during his earthly ministry had mentioned to the ignorant pharisees and scribes that he will rebuild the temple on three days.
Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews then said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” But He was speaking of the temple of His body - John 2:19-21.
God os npo mpre living in terbanacles made of wood, stones and the likes, God wants to make his abode in us, in me and in you if only we open up the door of our heart and let Him in. See what APostle Peter had to say:
You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. - 1 Peter 2:5
We are now the stones. Not stones without life. We are living stones and we are to make up SPiritual houses for God.
Don't really get yourself bothered with the call for clossure of churches following Covid pandemic. The government may close the doors to terbancles of stones and wood without our permissions but they cannot close the doors to our hearts.
Let's keep our hearts open for the Lord even in times as this. He will come in and sup with us.
