15.Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16.He longed to fill his belly with the pods the pigs were eating, but no one
17.Finally he came to his senses and said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have plenty of food? But here I am, starving to death!…
Good morning dearly beloved, trust that you had a great night and that you are up already and ready for the task of the day?
Please let us together take out time to thank God for His faithfulness and mercies towards us. For keeping us alive to see another day such as this. I am happy that you are alive, I pray may God continue to keep us in Jesus name, amen.
Today, I want to remind us that we are no more slaves to sin because we have been liberated through the cross of Jesus, as such, we should act thus like those who have been free from the yoke and shackles of sin.
From the above Bible reference, I am certain that we all know that story contain in there. The story of the Prodigal is one which comes with quite a lot of lessons. Thus, today, I want to consider few of such lessons with the hope that it would be a blessing or and encouragement to someone out there.
Firstly, let me say that I still find it difficult to understand why the prodigal son decide to leave the house which had everything that life had to offer. However, I would be careful to submit that I do not see any thing wrong for him to have chosen to leave outside the fathers house.
Get me right, if we must consider the present reality of our today's society, you can not fault the young man because he was doing what is obtainable in our society, and what is obtainable in the society? You'd ask, it's simple. When a son is of age, he takes a walk out of the father's house to start their own life. I hear that over there in the Western Countries, people are free to be independent once they are up to 18 years and above. However in Nigeria, wee do see sons who are up to 30 years plus and they are still cohabiting in the parents' house.
This is where I want to focus on, was there any problem for the son to have left the father?
I would say no that it was not a bad thing to had left. It was however not good that he left quite early. Because as the Bible says it the Prodigal spent all that his father had given to him and in a few days, weeks or months - I guess, he became impoverished.
Here's where I do not support the prodigal son. He was too quick to have left his father's house. The young man squandered his treasures and was forced to going to beg someone to accommodate him. This points to the fact that this young man was not well prepared for the the new life he chose.
Relating this to our brethren in the , it is obvious that we should not be in a haste to asking God for a blessing that would take us out of His watch.
The Blessing the the Lord makes rich and it adds no sorrow.
From the above, it entails that the blessing that God brings our way is the one that should not bring sorrows. The Prodigal son was not ready for the blessings that his father gave out to him. Can I shock you that if you pray for the blessing of marriage, admission, carrier and what have you, you'd inordinately have it.
However, if it is delayed, you should be glad that God has chosen not to give you the blessing yet. You should also look inward and know that you may lack the capacity to handle the blessing of God. It could be obvious that the Prodigal son did not mature mentally, physically, psychologically, spiritually and financially to live independently.
As Christians and members of this community, let us remember that the as we living and having fellowship by listening to others, they'll come a time that God would ask us to go out and teach others. Little wonder Timothy was worried about brethren saying that by this time, they should be the ones teaching others rather than be listeners.
Beloved, be yea prepared while your'e in the living in the mansion cause sooner than later, your services will be needed. "The harvest is ready bu the labourers are few.
