Today marks the beginning of Christmas, one of the most beautiful times of the year. As every year, the joy of the Christmas holidays overwhelms us and we begin to decorate our homes to the best of our ability and budget. Despite the difficult economic situation we are experiencing, we try to continue cultivating our traditions and enjoy every moment to the fullest.
One of the traditions that we Venezuelans have adopted is putting up a Christmas tree. It is a very beautiful tradition, and families get together to decorate it.
In my house, the tree has always been decorated with recycled materials and adorned with a jade plant that my mother has at home. She has always made it with my daughter, but this year she invited me to help her, as my daughter had an activity outside the house.
We started by covering the base of the pot where the plant is planted, and then we added lights and chains, streamers, a bow, a star, and some bells made from light bulbs; they were painted and sprinkled with glitter, giving it a very nice touch.
Actually, it's not that difficult to make this little tree; it's just a matter of decorating the plant according to each person's creativity.
I really enjoyed doing this activity with my mom; this type of activity always strengthens family bonds and we have fun doing them. I missed my daughter a lot; she has always participated with my mom in making it, but I'm sure she'll be very happy when she sees it, since she loves the little tree.

Es un gusto para mí seguir compartiendo con ustedes.
Hoy comienza la Navidad, una de las épocas más bonitas del año. Como todos los años, la alegría de las fiestas navideñas nos embarga y comenzamos a arreglar y adornar nuestros hogares en la medida de nuestras posibilidades y presupuesto; a pesar de la situación económica tan difícil que se está viviendo, tratamos de seguir cultivando nuestras tradiciones y disfrutar al máximo cada momento.
Una de las tradiciones que hemos adoptado los venezolanos es la elaboración del arbolito de Navidad; es una tradición muy bonita y las familias se reúnen para la elaboración del mismo.
En el caso de mi casa, el arbolito siempre se ha realizado con adornos realizados con materiales de reciclaje y adornando una planta de jade que tiene mi mamá en casa; siempre lo ha realizado ella con mi hija, pero este año me invitó a que le ayudara, ya que mi hija tenía una actividad fuera de casa.
Empezamos forrando la base del envase donde se encuentra sembrada la planta y luego le colocamos las luces y cadenetas, bambalinas, un lazo, estrella y algunas campanitas que fueron realizadas por bombillos; se pintaron y colocaron brillantina, dándole un toque muy bonito.
En realidad, no es tan difícil realizar este arbolito; es adornar la planta según la creatividad de cada persona.
Me gustó mucho hacer esta actividad con mi mamá; este tipo de actividad siempre fortalece los vínculos familiares y nos divierte haciéndolas. Extrañé mucho a mi hija; ella siempre ha participado con mi mamá en la elaboración, pero de seguro estará muy feliz cuando lo vea, ya que le encanta el arbolito.
