Hello my dear friends, as promised I'm back here to show you the update on how the bathroom renovation is going. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about I'll put it in context, for a while now we have been buying everything we need to change the look of our bathroom, which we haven't changed for over 30 years since we bought the house, it's a drastic renovation as we will be changing everything, absolutely everything, toilet, sink, shower, tiles and even the window. I can't deny that although it is an exciting process, there are also times when I have been filled with a lot of frustration and unexpected expenses, but that's what this post is about, so come along and I'll tell you all the ins and outs.
Hola mis queridos amigos, lo prometido es deuda así que regresé por aquí para mostrarles la actualización de como está yendo la remodelación del baño. Para los que no sepan de que les estoy hablando los pondré un poco en contexto, y es que desde hace un tiempo hemos estado comprando todo lo necesario para cambiar la apariencia de nuestro baño, el cual no habíamos cambiado por más de 30 años, desde que compramos la casa, es una renovación drástica ya que cambiaremos todo, absolutamente todo, WC, lavabo, ducha, baldosas e incluso la ventana. No les puedo negar que a pesar de que es un proceso emocionante, también hay ocasiones en que me he llenado de mucha frustración o que de la nada surgen muchos gastos imprevistos, pero de eso se trata este post, así que acompáñenme y les contaré todos los pormenores.

I bought this mirror because I thought it was beautiful, the frame is gold, although on camera you can't see the colour very well and I think it will look beautiful in our bathroom.
Compré este espejo porque me pareció hermoso, el marco es dorado, aunque en cámara no se aprecia muy bien el color y creo que se verá hermoso en nuestro baño.
I bought a bulb holder to give it a better finish and a new switch.
Compré un porta bombillo para que tenga un mejor acabado y un interruptor nuevo.
I also bought the drain, it is beautiful, chrome plated and of very good quality, as the previous ones I had got so far looked very flimsy and even had dangerous edges.
También compré el desague, es hermoso, cromado y de muy buena calidad, ya que los anteriores que había conseguido hasta ahora se veían muy endebles e incluso tenían bordes peligrosos.
We needed this silicone for the basin and window assembly, so of course I bought it.
Necesitábamos este silicón para el ensamblaje del lavabo y de la ventana, así que desde luego lo compré.
Este es el lavabo que no pude enseñarles la última vez, es hermoso 😍
As for the bathroom I will share with you some pictures of how it looked when the plumbing was being installed and the Bricklayers was removing the old tiles. Obviously all this caused a lot of noise but it is part of the job, however I had to adapt to seeing the house extremely dirty, there is dust everywhere and obviously while the work is being done it is not worth cleaning, however what has cost us much more work is the fact that we cannot use the bathroom for obvious reasons, we have to bathe at my neighbours house, as we have no other bathroom apart from this one.
En cuanto al baño les compartiré algunas fotografías de como se veía cuando estaban instalando las tuberías y el albañil estaba retirando las baldosas viejas. Obviamente todo esto provocaba mucho ruido pero son gajes del oficio, sin embargo tuve que adaptarme a ver la casa extremadamente sucia, hay polvo por todas partes y obviamente mientras se están realizando obras no vale la pena limpiar, sin embrago lo que nos ha costado mucho más trabajo es el hecho de que no podemos usar el baño por obvias razones, debemos bañarnos en casa de mis vecinos, ya que no tenemos otro baño además de este.
But little by little it has been taking shape, the bricklayer was installing the tiles on the walls first.

Although it still had a long way to go, the bathroom was starting to look beautiful and that filled us with great expectations.
Aunque aún le faltaba mucho ya el baño comenzaba a verse hermoso y eso nos llenaba de muchas expectativas.
Yesterday the bricklayer started with the installation of the floor tiles and had to remove the toilet. All those holes you can see in the floor were made by the mason to give the tiles a better grip. There in the background, behind the old toilet, you can see my cat peeking in.
Ayer el albañil comenzó con la instalación de las baldosas del piso y para ello tuvo que retirar el WC. Todos esos huecos que se ven en el piso los hizo el albañil para que las baldosas tuvieran un mayor agarre. Allá en el fondo, detrás del viejo inodoro se puede ver a mi gato curioseando
This is how it looked today in the afternoon, our bricklayer really is very skilled and works fast, in only two days he has done all this work (I was waiting for his free time to take pictures) The floor tile is now completely installed.
Así es como se veía hoy en la tarde, nuestro albañil realmente es muy hábil y trabaja rápido, en solo dos días ha hecho todo este trabajo (yo esperaba sus ratos libres para tomar fotografías) La baldosa del piso ya está instalada por completo.
And this is what it looked like a while ago, he already installed the drain and the missing tiles on the walls, it's late so his working day is over for today but tomorrow, God willing he will install the toilet and the washbasin 😁.
Y así es como se veía hace un rato, ya instaló el desagüe y las baldosas que faltaban en las paredes, es tarde así que su jornada terminó por hoy pero mañana, Dios mediante instalará el WC y el lavabo 😄.

As I told you in previous posts, I bought this piece of furniture for the bathroom on which the washbasin will be placed, it is from the brand Casa lista, according to the shop it should look like this (as I indicate in the picture on the shop's website) I thought it was easy to install but it was not.
Como ya les dije en post anteriores, yo compré este mueble para el baño sobre el cual irá el lavabo puesto, es de la marca Casa lista, según la tienda debería verse así (como les indico en la fotografía del sitio web de la tienda) yo creía que era de fácil instalación pero no fue así.
We took everything out of the box, there were the screws, the hinges, the instruction manual, everything, so my dad, my sister and I sat down to study the manual.
Sacamos todo de la caja, estaban los tornillos, las visagras, el manual de instrucciones, todo, así que mi papá, mi hermana y yo nos sentamos a estudiar el manual
Those were all the pieces, each one had a different letter to guide us when assembling the furniture, however we realized that one of the pieces was incorrectly labeled and the instruction manual was too complicated, seriously very complicated. However, I tried, I assembled everything in one piece but the problem was with the screws, they did not fit and that was frustrating me a lot 😡 because we needed the furniture to be assembled so that they could open the two necessary holes, one for the sink and the other for the faucet.
Esas eran todas las piezas, cada una tenía una letra diferente para poder guiarnos al armar el mueble, sin embargo nos dimos cuenta de que una de las piezas estaba mal etiquetada y el manual de instrucciones era demasiado complicado, en serio muchísimo. Sin embargo yo lo intenté, ensamblé todo en una sola pieza pero el problema estaba en los tornillos, no entraban y eso me estaba frustrando mucho 😡 porque necesitábamos que el mueble estuviese armado para que pudieran abrirle los dos huecos necesarios, uno para el lavabo y otro para el grifo.
I even thought that I had lost my money because it was not possible to assemble that thing, however we all complement each other very well at home and fortunately my sister has more than the patience that I lack, so the next day, since it was her day off, He worked with my dad to assemble all the pieces, in this way the furniture took shape again but with the screws in place and with due firmness.
Llegué a pensarincluso que había perdido mi dinero porque no era posible armar esa cosa, sin embargo todos nos complementamos muy bien en casa y afortunadamente a mi hermana le sobra la paciencia que me falta, así que al día siguiente, ya que era su día libre, se dedicó junto a mi papá a armar todas las piezas, de esta manera el mueble fue tomando forma nuevamente pero con los tornillos en su lugar y con la debida firmeza.
And voila, it now looks exactly like the store photo. They did it! When my mom and I arrived with the day's shopping, (the mirror and everything else, we found that surprise)
Y voilá ahora luce exactamente como en la fotografía de la tienda, ¡Lo lograron! Cuando mi mamá y yo llegamos con las compras del día, (el espejo y todo lo demás, nos encontramos con esa sorpresa)
Tomorrow God willing we will make the last purchases (the curtain, the curtain tube and the other bathroom accessories) and someone will also open the holes in the furniture for the installation of the sink, so most likely tomorrow we will finish with the installation of the window, the W.C and the sink, then I will have to hire someone else to come and open the holes in the walls for the installation of the accessories, however I think we are already in the final stretch 😍.
Mañana Dios mediante realizaremos las últimas compras (la cortina, el tubo de la cortina y los demás accesorios de baño) además alguien le abrirá los huecos al mueble para la instalación del lavamanos, así que muy probablemente mañana culminemos con la instalación de la ventana, el W.C y el lavabo, luego tendré que contratar a alguien más para que venga a abrir los huecos en las paredes para la instalación de los accesorios, sin embargo creo que ya estamos en la recta final 😍.
