Hola amigos, hoy quiero compartirles un nuevo proyecto con el cual espero tener un buen resultado, LES CUENTO que ayer mi hermana me dijo que desde hace 5 años, tenia guardadas en el deposito, dos sillas de ratán con el tejido dañado, ELLA no las había mandado a reparar porque en aquel momento la reparación era muy costosa, ahora han pasado 5 años y la reparación es más costosa, ahora decidió regalárselas a alguien para que las mande a reparar, entonces yo le dije que quería ver esas sillas para saber si yo mismo las podía reparar.
Bueno, amigos, estaba observando atentamente cómo se unía el tejido de ratán en los bordes de las sillas y me pareció que podía repararlas. Así que ayer fui a la tienda "El Castillo" y tenían la tela de ratán a $23 el metro. Solo fui a ver si la tenían para comprarla después. Necesitamos 1.5 metros para ambas sillas, así que me voy a embarcar en esta aventura —y digo "aventura" porque nunca he visto a nadie reparar una silla de ratán—. Así que hoy comencé este gran reto, que espero poder lograr, para que mi hermana pueda volver a disfrutar de sus sillas de ratán.

Hello friends, today I want to share a new project with you, one I hope will be successful. My sister told me yesterday that she's had two rattan chairs with damaged weave stored in the storage room for the past five years. She hadn't had them repaired because at the time the repairs were very expensive. Well, friends, I was carefully observing how the rattan weave was joined at the edges of the chairs and it seemed to me that I could repair them. Bueno mis amigos, lo más difícil de esta reparación es la sustitución del tejido de ratán del asiento, ¡CLARO! es fácil para quienes se dedican a este tipo de trabajo, pero para mi, esto es nuevo, por lo que tendré que buscar por INTERNET, algún tutorial para que me sirva de guía u orientación y de esta manera evitar que por algún error dañe el material.

Una de las sillas posee el tejido de ratán en el asiento y en el espaldar, mientras que la otra solo posee el tejido de ratán en el siento.

Hoy en la tarde comencé con este proyecto, lo primero que hice fue retirar todo el tejido dañado y el aro de madera, mientras iba quitando material dañado, fueron apareciendo una serie agujeros con unos tapones en la ranura del borde de madera de la silla, esto me indicaba que estos pequeños huecos eran para fijar la tela de ratán para que se mantuviera firme y estirada.
This afternoon I started this project. The first thing I did was remove all the damaged fabric and the wooden hoop. As I was removing the damaged material, a series of holes with plugs appeared in the groove of the wooden edge of the chair. This indicated to me that these small holes were for fixing the rattan fabric so that it would stay firm and taut.

Ahora voy a remover todo el material dañado de la segunda silla, la cual se diferencia de la anterior, porque no posee el tejido de ratán en el espaldar solo en el asiento.

Bueno mis amigos, ya logré remover todo el material dañado de las dos sillas, así que ya quedaron listas colocarles el tejido de ratán, mañana voy a comprar dicho tejido en la tienda "El castillo" para proceder a colocarlo en el asiento, y también pienso aplicar barniz en spray a toda la madera y al tejido, en una próxima publicación les mostraré todo el proceso de instalación del tejido, el cual espero que quede bien y de esta manera supera este reto. Well, my friends, I've finally managed to remove all the damaged material from both chairs, so they're ready to have the rattan weaving installed. Tomorrow I'm going to buy the weaving at "El Castillo" store to put it on the seats, and I also plan to apply spray varnish to all the wood and the weaving.
