Evitar el ruido visual es una de las cosas más importantes para mí en casa, sobre todo desde que comencé con mis problemas de ansiedad, ya que ver las cosas desordenadas me afecta un poco, por lo que siempre trato de mantener todo en su lugar y lo más ordenado posible, siendo el baño y la cocina los lugares en los que más me cuesta mantener ese orden por la cantidad de objetos que suelen haber en estos dos espacios.
Avoiding visual clutter is one of the most important things for me at home, especially since I started experiencing anxiety issues, as seeing things in disarray affects me a bit; so I always try to keep everything in its place and as tidy as possible. The bathroom and the kitchen are the places where I find it hardest to maintain that order, due to the sheer number of items that tend to be in these two spaces.
Y en mi caso, el principal problema es el baño donde tenemos todo tipo de artículos de cuidado personal, y que al ser usados diariamente no todos los dejan nuevamente en su lugar o de la forma en que yo quiero que permanezcan, y para solucionar este problema, las cestas o pequeñas cajas son una gran solución, y de hecho en el mercado hay muchísimas opciones para tal fin.
El tema es que aunque tengo dos estantes en el baño con varias repisas, la forma de estos no me permitía utilizar cualquier tipo de cestas, ya que uno es un esquinero y el otro tiene una forma poco convencional, por lo que encontrar algo en el mercado que se ajuste a ellas y que además me guste ha sido bastante complicado, así que sí o sí tenía que hacer uso de mi creatividad para solucionar ese problema, y gracias a mi gran aliado Pinterest logré encontrar la inspiración para ello y crear mis propios accesorios de almacenamiento para el baño, específicamente para los rollos de papel sanitario, ya que verlos solo puestos ahí me desagradaba bastante, así que me puse manos a la obra. Y por aquí les comparto el resultado.
In my case, the main problem is the bathroom, where we have all sorts of personal care items; and as they’re used daily, not everyone puts them back where they belong or the way I want them to be. To solve this problem, baskets or small boxes are a great solution, and in fact there are plenty of options on the market for this purpose.
The thing is, although I have two bathroom units with several shelves, their shape meant I couldn’t use just any old baskets, as one is a corner unit and the other has an unconventional shape, so finding something on the market that fits them and that I actually like has been quite a challenge, so I absolutely had to get creative to solve that problem, and thanks to my great ally Pinterest, I managed to find the inspiration for it and create my own bathroom storage accessories, specifically for the toilet rolls, as I really didn’t like seeing them just sitting there, so I got down to work. And here I’m sharing the result with you.
En este caso, en casa solemos colocar los rollos de papel sanitario en un esquinero de metal y repisas de vidrio súper lindo, para el que me había sido imposible encontrar cestas que se ajusten a su forma y que optimicen el espacio, ya que las cestas que encontraba eran cuadradas y de esta forma perdía mucho espacio, por lo que necesitaba una cesta en forma triangular, y encima del mismo tamaño, pero esto fue realmente imposible, así que decidí hacer la mía, y claro que busqué ideas en pinterest y con cartón y tela pude resolver este pequeño problema de almacenamiento.
Para ello en principio, tuve que crear mi propia caja de cartón, ya que tampoco se encuentran de esta forma con facilidad, pero la verdad esto fue bastante sencillo, solo tomé las medidas, corté el cartón y con ayuda de mi pistola de silicón armé una que se adaptó perfectamente a mi repisa.
In this case, at home we usually keep the toilet rolls in a really lovely metal corner unit with glass shelves, but I’d been unable to find any baskets that would fit its shape and make the most of the space, as the ones I found were square and wasted a lot of room. So I needed a triangular basket, and one of the same size at that, but this proved impossible, so I decided to make my own, and of course I looked for ideas on Pinterest and, using cardboard and fabric, I was able to solve this little storage problem.
To do this, I first had to make my own cardboard box, as you don’t easily find them in this shape either, but honestly, it was quite simple: I just took the measurements, cut the cardboard, and with the help of my hot glue gun, I put together one that fitted my shelf perfectly.
El siguiente paso fue cubrir todo el cartón y para eso utilicé una tela de cortinas que tiene un estampado de hojas de periódico en tonos sepia y neutros que me gusta muchísimo, y esto lo hice también con la pistola de silicón, así que todo el proceso fue súper sencillo.
El último toque que le di a mi cesta fue pegarle justo en el centro un listón de cuero, y estuvo lista, y como pueden ver encajó perfecto en el espacio, y no solo es funcional sino decorativa, y ustedes que me conocen saben que para mí ambas cosas son muy importantes, así que quedé súper satisfecha con esta solución, ya que además de resolver el problema, tengo una cesta personalizada en la que no gasté absolutamente nada, y me gustó tanto que ahora pienso hacer otras para las diferentes repisas del baño.
The next step was to cover the cardboard, and for that I used some curtain fabric with a newspaper print in sepia and neutral tones that I absolutely love; I did this using the hot glue gun too, so the whole process was really simple.
The final touch I gave my basket was to stick a leather ribbon right in the centre, and it was ready. As you can see, it fitted perfectly into the space, and it’s not only functional but decorative too. Those of you who know me know that both of these things are very important to me, so I was really pleased with this solution, as as well as solving the problem, I have a personalised basket that cost me absolutely nothing, and I liked it so much that I’m now planning to make others for the different shelves in the bathroom.
