Trabajando en el cuarto de mi hija/Working in my daughter's room

Hello, my friends at Hive and Hive account@home.solutions. I hope you’re all well. It’s been quite a while since I last popped in here because I’ve been short on time, and although I’ve wanted to share a few things, I just haven’t had the chance. However, I made the most of the weekend to sit down and write for a bit, and tell you what I’ve been up to at home.

Hola mis amigos de Hive y Hive account@home.solutions, espero que todos estén bien, hace bastante rato que no pasaba por aquí porque he estado con poco tiempo, y eso que he querido compartir varias cosas, pero no me ha dado chance, pero aproveché el fin de semana para escribir un rato y contarles qué es lo que he estado haciendo en la casa.

I told you a while ago that the upper floor of the house was now all ours, as my mother-in-law had moved to the lower floor, and that I was fixing up one of the upstairs rooms for my daughter Miranda. I’ve been working on it in my spare moments, but I’ve made quite a bit of progress.

We finally cleared out everything that was in the room and started bringing up the furniture she’s going to need; we brought up a double bed that used to belong to my mother-in-law and which Miranda likes, as well as the bedside tables and a dressing table, and I’ve cleared out the wardrobe in the room too.

Hace tiempo que les dije que la parte de arriba de la casa ya estaba sola para nosotros porque la suegra se fue para la parte de abajo de la casa, y que estaba arreglando uno de los cuartos de arriba para mi hija Miranda y en eso he estado en los raticos libros que he tenido, pero he adelantado bastante.

Por fin sacamos todo lo que estaba en el cuarto y comenzamos a subir los muebles que ella va a necesitar, subimos una cama matrimonial que era de la suegra y que a Miranda le gusta, además de las mesitas de noche y también una peinadora, y el closet que está en el cuarto lo desocupé también.

I don’t know if you remember me telling you that the room had a damp problem on one wall; it’s nothing too serious, but it’s already flaking, so I just need to apply some professional filler, because the leak was fixed years ago and the wall hasn’t been damaged any further.

All that’s left now is to fix that, paint the room and work on the furniture – my wife will take care of that because our daughter wants to paint it white and purple, and Rosa has already done that sort of thing with other pieces of furniture in the house.

No sé si se acuerdan que les dije que el cuarto tenía un problema de humedad en una pared, no es nada muy serio, pero ya está picoteado y solo tengo que echarle pasta profesional, porque el problema de filtración se arregló hace años y no se dañó más la pared.

Ya lo que queda es reparar eso, pintar el cuarto y trabajar en los muebles que de eso se va a encargar mi esposa porque la niña quiere pintarlos de blanco y morado y Rosa ya ha hecho ese tipo de cosas con otros muebles de la casa.

Although work on the room is coming along, she might not move in straight away once it’s ready, because we also need to do some work in the hallway. That room is on the other side of a door we put in to separate the space and fit the air conditioning, and that’s a bit more work and a bit more expensive, but she’ll be able to have her own space to arrange it however she likes.

Aunque se está adelantando lo del cuarto es posible que cuando esté listo ella no se mude de inmediato porque también hay que hacer un trabajo en el pasillo porque ese cuarto está por fuera de una puerta que pusimos para separar el espacio y poder poner el aire acondicionado y eso es un poco más trabajoso y más gasto, pero ella podrá tener su lugar para acomodarlo como ella quiera.
