Hi all, I hope that you're well.
So I discovered this community and the extraodinary lightpainting that everyone in here does around xmas time (under my AKA ) and became so obsessed with it, I must have watched hundreds of videos on the other tube...by Eric Pare, Jason Page, Jason Rinehart, Dennis Smith, and so many others...watching absolutely EVERYTHING I could and couldn't get enough of it. . and fell down this massive, colour light and creativity filled rabbit hole for months, so much so that I almost completely left Hive behind...
and although conducted a few half arsed experiments- since I don't have a dslr camera and can't afford any of the commercial light painting tools- oh and there is the fact that there is only me and it was all a bit hard and complicated to do at the time...I still have big ideas that one day (when summer comes back...) and I can get my friend Sabrina who is a professional photographer to help me, I will capture.
Now I've got to confess that although I was HUGELY into still photography in the mid 80's as a teenager and accidentally created numerous light painting photos of the band and musos- usually by being drunk dancing on stage with the band down at the Tathra pub with my old Konica slr camera clicking away and accidentally moving the shutter button to bulb and not realising...
I had never ever heard of this real thing called lightpainting and I'm like I LOVE COLOUR. COLOUR rules my life and so where have I been all of it's life.
Why have I never heard of this amazing thing called lightpainting and now I feel like a right dilberry living almost 50yrs and not having ever heard of seen or noticed it before...It's like I've been living under a rock this entire time, but trust me, I haven't....and I've even had some major discussions with my good old friend (a brand new Hivean) about my BIG ideas on this very topic since xmas...
Anyway, right now all I have is my loungeroom, fairy lights, plants and (pretty crappy) Iphone 11pro max and no, I'm so NOT impressed with the camera or lenses at all.... Anyhoooo, I did come across this app a few months back called Slow Shutter that does allow me to poorly simulate professional light painting and tonight as I was dancing around, feeling a bit restless in my loungeroom (cause we're back in lockdown 6.0...) I decided to put my disco lights on to give myself and bit of colour to dance to and then got all inspired to capture the colour and then remembered the app and got all inspired to take these 'lightpainting' shots.
So I know that you'll cringe- I do, especially when I know what you guys produce, but I've been dying... DYING to participate in this community for months now and can't wait for the moment spring/summer comes so I can get out there and actually do it properly with another human being to help me and the proper tools (cause my bodgied up ones didn't really work...π....)
So I just hope that you enjoy the pretty colours as much as I do....
And I promise though it begins here with these shots, it won't end here.
It will end- well, continue on with the big ideas that I have in my head....eventually...(still in winter here...)
And this is the tree that inspired all of the photos above...yes...it's fake tooo....BUT a fake green tree is better than a dead real one.....
Well, thank you all for reading and putting up with my rambling tonight and if you did make it this far, you are absolute champions!
