There's no denying that finding suitable locations for LightPainting can be a mission and affected by so many different factors. Ambient light and being away from people can be 2 of the main things that I try to avoid so Urbex and Rurex has played a big part in my LP. Finding places hidden from public view and in dark locations (no street lights) is an adventure in itself and on occasion I have just had enough time to explore and had to return to do some Light Painting. One spot I have explored extensively with my mate Matt in 2012, was RNCF Holton Heath. Our first visit had us trying to fight our way through an thick wall of Rhododendron bushes and after an hour or so we gave up and decided to look for a different building on the other side of this massive site. The first building we found was the main Pump House which pumped millions of gallons of water around this Cordite factory, and was mainly used for cooling of nitro-glycerin.
Very early in my LP journey so was just simple home made tools. A green LED glow stick and a home made stencil flash box (thanks to Noctography for the tutorial) for this shot.
The site is vast and the journey into the undergrowth continued for the following 3 years, many return trips to find more and to create some images will need a few posts to cover it all.
