According to a report by David Wetzel of Knews Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to have a surgery for a stomach cancer he has reportedly been suffering from for the last year and a half. The surgery will allegedly force Putin to hand off the reigns of power for two days. The person to take over will be Nikolai Patrushev, the head of the Security Council and a fellow KGB veteran.
The idea that Putin has some health issues seems plausible. So this report - referencing some anonymous inside sources, and thus of questionable quality - may well be true. And it may be a sign of, or a harbinger to, a whole slew of scenarios.
One possibility is Putin's inner circle using this opportunity - if Putin's alleged cancer surgery is really what is coming up - said inner circle may use this as an opportunity to push Putin out of power and try to remediate the war crisis the country - and all of them - are in. Another one is that Putin may just not wake up from the anesthesia - if liquidation of him is in the works.
Another possibility is that Putin has realized that death or a prison cell are the only egress routes he really faces should he choose to stay in power - unless he chooses to fake his own death. So perhaps soon a body will be buried - or, even better, cremated and interred - that would be alleged to be that of Vladimir Putin - whereas the real Mr Putin will surface somewhere on the planet as a no-name retiree under a fake set of identification documents. That, I must say, would be the most intelligent plan for this man - if his actual health is not in dire straights and if staying alive and free is high on his priority list.
At his point we can only speculate as to what the situation is. The events of the next couple of weeks should introduce more clarity into the situation.
