Today we are going into the past, almost thirty years ago, season 1996, the last one before WRC cars were introduced. It was all much more simple and way more affordable because every tuner could produce Group A car and everyone could buy the car of top class for then 300k DM (equivalent to today's 150k euro) and you didn't have to go to the works teams to buy the car to compete internationaly.
Yeah, that was the time, the best time of rallying. Ten drivers were able to win any event and there was no domination of any Seb (Loeb or Ogier) and that's because there was no paying seats in the teams which destroyed sport, if you ask me.
That was a time of more manufacturer teams because everything was cheaper for teams to compete and more visible to everyone (domination of any kind kills the sport). So that's the reason why the sport was healthier back in a days.
