Hi, friends!
Hyundai Motorsport don't have season of dreams. Only one victory so far and that was taken by 2019 WRC champion Ott Tanak who briefly led the championship after his home rally in Estonia. But they don't have their year. As I said before, their team boss Cyril Abiteboul made some mistakes with leading the team in a bad way, putting a whole squad under lots of pressure with not letting them know about their future, because his tendencies were circuit racing.
But recently, he finally revealed that team will stay in the World Rally Championship in 2026 and that's good for them, and for the sport. What is bad is that performance of his squad at fastest event of the season - WRC Rally Finland wasn't the best.
Ott Tanak was opening the road, cleaning and losing lots of time in the process. He was penalized later after having a collision with the steward who was checking the tires (because there was a water leak from his radiator, and Tanak pressed the throttle) and steward was in danger. Result of this bad behavior was 5 minutes penalty and he lost any chance to fight for the top 5 positions.
To be clear, Toyota drivers dominated at this rally with top 5 positions into their favor, and the best placed Hyundai driver was current WRC champion Thierry Neuville who finished 6th overall.
But we have their vlog from Finland and you can find much more there. So please enjoy it...
