Hi, friends!
I don't know if something called luck exists in the world but nine-time World Rally champion haven't been lucky in the first part of this year's Dakar Rally because he had some mechanical problems, punctures but also a small roll and that was the reason why he lost some time.
Now he has six special stage wins in the row and that's the new record in the Dakar Rally books because mo one never did that before. But that doesn't count because he is still 2nd overall, more then hour behind a rally leader Nasser Al-Attiyah and there is only one day before the rally end.
Yeah, Dakar Rally 2023 ends tomorrow and this could easily be another Al-Attiyah's triumph if he won't make any kind of mistake. And with his experience, he shouldn't do it.He just has to drive clever tomorrow, avoid punctures or any kind of shunt and that should be enough for him to celebrate again.
Lucas Moraes is a new name on Dakar and with the superb drive for Overdrive Team, he proved his talent which should bring him some offers for the Rally Raid Championship in this year. So we have two Toyota Hilux rally cars (Nasser Al-Attiyah and Lucas Moraes), and one Hunter BRX with Loeb.
Giniel de Villiers is an old fox and without bigger drama and spectacular fashion, he holds 4th place with more then two hours behind the rally leader.
Henk Lategan was the man of the rally for a long time (from the beginning) but now he is only 5th overall which is good result if you ask me. Toyota Hilux is really dominant car and it still uses an old technology of atmospheric engines.
Tomorrow is the last day of this year's Dakar and if Al-Attiyah wins, it will be his fifth win which is really magnificent.
Let the best win - as always...
