Also, a giant zucchini showed up at our front door with no explanation.
(This is how much is left after I already gave a bunch away 👆)
It's been a strange weekend, but a good one.
While my sleep was a bit bumpy on Friday night, I still managed my fastest ever time for Lota parkrun, a location I've historically struggled with.
(I knocked more than a minute of my previous best at this event 🥳)
Post parkrun we had coffee with mates ☕ which was pretty good.
Then it was time to hunt down Christmas presents for the granddaughter. We walked our way through the maze that is Ikea 🛒 Don't think I need to do that again anytime soon 🤦
Finally, we visited Brad's mum and sister before having a well earned nap! 💤
Dinner was healthy and low-key, as usual but when we headed out for our usual evening walk we were surprised to find a ginoromous zucchini 🥒
Knowing my neighbours well, I immediately guessed who it was. And it so happened that he was out in his yard, so I went to chide/thank him 😂 before taking our post-dinner stroll.
And before we knew it, we were preparing for Sunday (today) which started with miraculously waking up right when I wanted to (4:45 am) without an alarm clock ⏰
We dragged ourselves out of bed, like two tired, old people and 30 minutes later we were jogging to meet the others. 🏃♀️
The others, running mates of ourselves, we're ready to go. Well, half the group (of all men) were bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. The other half sounded and looked like us - tired!
Regardless, we headed into the bush and started tackling single tracks.
We only planning to run one trail with them and then just peel off to run/walk as long as we wanted, at a more sustainable pace. But... somehow we ended up mostly jogging with the occasional uphill walk, for more than 9 km!! 🤯
(I quite like how the numbers magically turned out in my warm up compared to the long run 😁)
And after a first breakfast at home, and a second breakfast with the crew, and plenty of pottering at home before our post-dinner walk, and a brief catch up and cuddle with the kids next door, and at least a couple of dunks in the pool, I've ended my day with more than 23,000 steps 🫠
It's been a strange weekend, but a good one.
