Recalling from my last trip to Asaba
I can remember the bit of stress
And more of flex.... I got home pretty early that day
Rushed to the office and came back super tired.... Whew
I was staring at my little gottens from home....
THE PLANTAINS (All I was seeing is the pile of work to do on it)
As I planned using all for our very popular swallow (Amala)
I couldn't help but to think - SHOULD I JUST DASH THEM OUT
All is the fear of engaging in the work to make it dry
I contemplated for long until I remembered my wonderful woman (Mummy Wealth MY DUBAI NEIGHBOR)..... She can always be of great help and value to me
I cunningly sneak to her that evening
Met her doing a little bit of her chores
I saluted and complimented with the soundest words and sweetest convincing smiles plus a tiring face
When I started she could guess where I was heading to
She could tell am about to ask for something... After a bit of sweet talk I asked for the favor
She turned me down jokingly... I laughed 😂😂
Cause she knows I'll never agree or take No for an answer that easily
I persuaded, Sweet talked, praised her and so on
Until reluctantly, reluctantly
She accepted.... And boom, it was like a huge load off my shoulder
Mehn you need to see what this lady did in such a short period of time
I was stunned and amazed when she was done
I first of all got her one chilled maltina to calm her nerves, There after I still bought her (kunu)
With the sure promise that when it's all dry and grinded I'll make one sound Amala meal for her
MOTHER'S ARE EVER MOTHERS
Her duty didn't end in slicing the Plantains, she still kept watch everyday as it's being dried outside in sunlight
For about 4-5days consecutively she did that for me because I close very late at times
She's one of the most trusted in the compound, my keys are always with her so before I come back I'll find my Amala on top of my water drum
HOW LONG IT TOOK
It took four - five days of consistent sunning
And it was a favorable weather for me as it was super sunny all through those days
As it dries the more it shrinked, reduce in size and quantity
But in the end it was super set to be grinded
But I'll tell you the truth, buying is cheaper than processing it yourself... If it wasn't a gift I really valued, I could have given it out, but I just have to keep on the process.
I really thanked her so much and she was super supportive to me
Not just on this very one, but she's been a mother to me since I came to the neighborhood (ESPECIALLY DURING THE Covid PANDEMIC LOCKDOWN)
I'll conclude by saying Mummy Wealth is the Best, I call her my Dubai Neighbor 🤗🤗
She has the true heart of a mother and that is one sure thing I love in every woman
I appreciate you all female-species
