There's a morning routine I started observing for close to two years now, and the results have been evident. While reading a post from one of my favorite authors two years ago, he mentioned writing his to-do list every morning and pasting it on his bed. He explained how this action helps him to stay on track with his daily activities, and I picked that one lesson from him.
I am the type that engages in lots of activities in a day, leaving me feeling overwhelmed always. However, sometimes, I see myself achieving almost nothing but rather keep beating about the bush. Some days, I get very productive and am able to balance things that need my attention. This often makes me feel fulfilled within. However, since I embraced my morning routine and kept observing it with consistency, I have this kind of mental clarity that helps me have control over my day.
It's a simple action that helps keep my day structured in a way that seems balanced. Each day comes with different activities for me, including the unforeseen ones that could emanate along the way. What I have been doing immediately after my morning prayers is to sit back with my big diary to think about my day. Let me not skip sticking to a lighter breakfast and not some heavy food most of my Nigerian people do take, capable of making me feel too heavy in the morning.
Being intentional while planning my day every morning is not negotiable. At first when I started, I was omitting days and weeks without doing my morning rituals, and it just made me go with the flow even when it was not so suitable for me. Sometimes, I feel so lazy because nothing is keeping me in check, and my day might either go well or maybe not as envisioned.
Observing this type of morning routine might seem a bit stressful for someone who hasn't tried it, but it's quite a simple activity that, when applied with consistency, has desirable results that become inevitable.
Imagine entering a vehicle without a specific destination? That's how I attribute it to waking up each morning and going with the flow. Sometimes, I may not even attend to everything written down for the day, but it helps me to a large extent in controlling my day. If you are intentional about your day, then it should start by being disciplined even with your sleep routine, and this means setting an alarm or, better said, being an early riser.
Personally, I have seen and experienced the importance of morning routine, and gradually, it's transforming my daily life positively. I see it as a way to positively start my day! You too can try this or, better still, go with the flow while observing self-discipline alongside.
