The heart is like the center of our lives. Everything we are, everything we become revolves around the heart. I will be a bit biblical in describing the hearty as regards to this context. These are 3 Bible verses where the word “heart” was mentioned.
In Matthew 9:4, “But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?”.
This scripture shows that our mind is strongly related to the heart.
In John 16:22, “Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you”.
This scripture shows us that our emotions is strongly connected to the heart.
In 1 John 3:20, “For if our heart condemns us...This scripture shows that our conscience is also connected to the heart. Since our conscience is what condemns or blames us for our wrongs.
The mind, emotions, and conscience all make up our personality and this defines who we are.
In my terms, Personality refers to the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behavior that differentiate one another. It defines our mentality and is responsible for our uniqueness. So when someone speaks, it comes from the thoughts in his mind which are related to the heart. Exactly why the Bible said “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks”.
The heart is what gives us the driving force to operate (passion). Actions taken to achieve and sustain success all spring up from the heart. This is the reason we like what we like and go for it. I once saw on a billboard that;
BEING RICH OR POOR IS A DECISION OF THE HEART.
I tried to process it. This is the exact reason a poor man can be rich tomorrow or still remain poor.
As a little girl, I always loved the medical profession. I will always want to play the role of a doctor or a nurse in every drama back then in school. This was what I loved, what I wanted. Fast forward to 2017 after secondary school, getting admission into the university was difficult. I remember being offered different options that I declined because that was not what I wanted. I just didn't want to enter the University unlike some of my friends. I was driven by a strong force to become a doctor or a nurse and yes!, today, I'm a nurse.
In summary, The heart is a very powerful entrance to our whole being. We become what we think, we can do what we believe we can. My dad always used this slogan.
if you say you can, you can.
What you fear becomes a stumbling block to you. No wonder the Bible emphasized in Proverb 4:23, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it springs the issues of life”. Guard Your Heart Dears. Thank you and do have a nice day.
