This is a conversation I have been meaning to engage in with a couple of folks. We haven't found the time yet, but it is something that really bothers me. Not 'bothers' perse, but it's something I ponder a lot. I have thought of it a very long time and I still wonder, are we masters of our own fate or are we bystanders or do we have some impact? There is also an interesting part of all this to consider. Life has a way of making you think about what truly isn't. Some say our perception of the world has warped our psyche making us look not at what is, but at what we want to be. This in itself can be pretty destructive but we are naturally built that way and we must learn and try to grow out of it.
What is Fate?
Fate in the simplest of terms is an event that occurs that is out of one's control. That already answers itself, but what if we are the masters of our fate? What if we actually caused or get to decide what happens to us in the near future? The possibilities are endless. I believe that most times, a lot of things happen to us that we have very little to no control over and the only thing we can do is choose how we react to it. It's what everything truly hinges on if you think about it. I still also do believe that we have some say in our fate. I loathe the quote Que Sera Sera a lot. Not the quote in itself, but the whole idea that goes with it. A sort of "fuck it" attitude. Like Brian Tracy would say;
If it would be, it is up to you.
Now I know there are some grey areas there, but I think we have a major role to play in how things pan out for us. We could actively alter the course of our life trajectory, albeit some things are truly beyond us, but a big part is what we can work towards changing. The future is not ours to see, they say. Tell me, what do you guys think?
