The wise man says, he has experienced everything on earth. Everything his mind desires, he got. He didn't deprive himself of any pleasure he sought. Everything is vanity, he says. This is from a book in the bible. I was having a conversation with
earlier today and we really got into it. It was so deep and profound. I think I have written about this some time ago, I can't quite remember when, but it is a topic that I can't seem to speak enough of. One of the simplest rules of life I tell people is the ability to hold on to things that truly matter. To put it more accurately. To give a f*ck about only the important things.
Nothing truly lasts forever. If you choose to hold on to material things, things of little value, You tend to seek happiness from such things, but the real danger is that these things are external and temporary. I know it is pretty easy to think, "well, it is easy for you to say, you don't live in a castle; you're not Elon Musk". And maybe you do have a point because we never really know where a shoe hurts until we wear it. Covers the whole 'don't judge people' topic.
Having the courage to be able to accept what would pass, is a truly great gift. Having the heart to appreciate what we truly have is equally great; gratitude. Nothing will last forever, not even you, and that alone should give you perspective.
Well, I hope you've learned something today. Cheers
