Urbanization has loaded our world. Urbanization is the reason of capitalism or capitalism is the result of urbanization? It's a long debate to talk about. One thing is evident that both things are closely related like closed hands. This Global world is all due to urbanization trend which is being followed by masses.
Urbanization Trend
This trend should be at full stop now because it has eaten up real, raw and nurturing beauty of villages. It has eaten up the innocence which was nourishing in the little and small mud houses. It has eroded the major foot prints of humans. Yes, all these devastations are thankful to cities.
I know, there are thousands of good things about cities as facilities and convince. But, at this time we are searching for fresh air. Isn't this ironic? That when fresh air was available we were searching for technological advancements but now when we have technological advancement then we are wandering for fresh air, water and other basic necessities. This proves that we are humans who are not satisfied in one situation and will always roam like a cloud.
Villages Are Stories Of Nature, trees, greenery, herbs, fresh food but cities are stories of spacious roads, towers, artificial lights, gyms and medicine.
Tranquility is the essence of rural life where sun rises so calmly and drowns in perfect manner, where people shares things and matters with each other, where everyone smiles after seeing another person. This life looks pure and rustic which is more simple and humanistic.
On the other hand, Cities have chaotic roads where traffic will be a headache and people will be working like robots being driven by electronic devices.
Togetherness vs Alienation
In villages, Concept of togetherness is dominated and people are habitual of celebrating their events with every member of village. This shows the love and understanding bond between each other.
Alienation is the sense when you cannot narrate your feelings.Actually when you fail to convey what you want to convey then we call it alienation among millions of people. It's true in the case of urban areas. The trend of being alone is entrenched in the urban setting and consequently it welcomes depression and stress in the life of people.
So, we can raise a valid point that urban and rural lifestyle effects behavior of humans too.
Villages are Persevered but in Museums
It's true that villages are now lost in the struggle to become town and to become part of urban planning. Urban planning is the word which is on the lips of every second businessman because it's way to print money.
Personally, i have tried to explore some mud houses{ which used to be very common in villages of this region} but sadly, only one or two houses will be found in villages. The architecture of villages is mixtured and amalgamated with the dull and boring architecture of cities which is none other than glass and skyscrapers.
Ironically, you can find real village but for that you have to go to museum. In museum you will read histories and you will read about culture. It is not surprising that urbanization has snatched culture because urge to become a urbanized person removes the stamps of past. That's why now "global culture" term is popular. But, keep in mind that culture is very important for any particular society because it shapes the identity of that society. If we loose culture then we loose our language and identity too. It's saddening to see all this shift in the local society.
Our practices are changed and even our food choices are changed. Just think about a person who use to live in village and used to have desi, normal and easy food but when he goes to city then he slowly develops taste for pizza, burger and other fast foods which are not good for health. In long run, he forgets all the rural food dishes and crave for these fast food items. These little and minor changes bring bigger ones in life of people.
Hand pumps used to be very common but now tap has taken it's role because we stepped further towards convenience in our lives. Actually it's not the mistake of businessmen but mistake of ours. We are lost in the lights of cities but at the same time we crave for originality and organic environment like villages. This can be achieved but artificially.
In consideration to all these points i consider that urbanization should stop now and keep things in their organic form.
