I was awake just after 7 this morning and wow, was it chilly. I don't usually wake this early, because I don't need to. Plus my youngest is something of a night owl, so I always end up falling asleep later than I would like. So it's nice to be able to sleep till at least 8:30, which I realise might be a luxury for some.
I left the land just after 8, my girls were all still sleeping and it was really nice to get myself ready in silence. Something I really cherish. Silence. The wind has finally died down, so it was so nice to be outdoors in silence too.
It's about a 45min walk, to get to where I was working and I found myself walking past, where I used to live. Which has the most amazing views. 360 degree panoramic views. I had to stop a minute and take them all in.
I met no one else on the road, which just added to the beauty. There are also, some of my favourite Olive trees on this route, so I had to take some time to appreciate them. I was too busy doing just that, to take pictures of them. But I have shared some of photos of them on here before.
I was listening to Akex Serra's new album as I walked along, which is called "Trance". It's such a beautiful album, with some wicked dub beats courtesy of TotiDub. Which had me vibing along to it. It just fitted so perfectly, as I made my way to work. Filling me with a wonderful sense of gratitude and joy.
I do feel blessed that I get to take this route on my way. The work, is only going to be for a few days, so I'm really valuing the solitude of this beautiful walk and how vast the views are. Being able to experience such space, is so good for me.
I always find it very humbling to amongst mountains. Their sheer size, reminding me of my place in the world. Reminding me of what really matters, of where my focus should be. Taking me out of my head, where I have spend too much time these last few weeks.
I arrive to work, just before 9, where I then meet the woman I'll be working with and we go about setting up the nets so that we can begin to harvest some olives. Finally, this year I will be getting my hands on some good quality Olive oil. I swear it always tastes better when you have had a hand in its production.
I didn't get to harvest any last year, because the trees in this area, just didn't have a good crop. But this year is different. So I have a few days work, harvesting on a friend's land in exchange for olive oil. Today we managed to harvest 9 trees between us. Which was pretty good going. Now I am exhausted, a very satisfied exhausted, as my body aches after my first day of a full body workout, that harvesting gives you. I know I'm going to sleep well tonight.
