My girls and I watched a movie recently, it was a cheesy festive movie, which they chose to watch. About a solo parent with 5 children, who finds out that they have been left a farm. The parent didn't really want to go, but the children were super excited.
At the end all three of my girls turned to me and said "Mum, why can't we have a farm". By farm, I mean a property that comes with lots of animals, animals that would get to live to old age. I am totally open to this, to be honest I would love nothing better than to live on a farm and rescue animals, that need a loving home..
But I am not in a position to make that happen, right now.(Not Yet) Unless, the price of land were to drop significantly.

It's not easy, not being able to give your children what they really desire. I make sure that they never go without. But I could only imagine what an amazing life experience it would be for them, to get live in such a way. Where they would be responsible for caring for the animals, something they all seem to be really up for.
My eldest, even said she would be willing to move further away from her friends if it meant it could happen. Well a bus journey away, at least. Which for a teenager is saying something.
Having an animal rescue has always been a dream of mine, ( something I have written about in the past as well) and having 3 children who share that dream with me, is amazing. Now, I am focused, on finding a way in which I could make it happen.
I'm just not sure yet, how it will happen. But I thought, that sharing that dream on here and being as precise as I could, would be a good place to start.
I am perfectly happy living in my truck, but my girls would like more space, so having a few small dwellings on there would be ideal. I imagine 4 pods, one for each of us, connected via vine covered corridors, that can become enclosed in the winter months and used like greenhouses.
Land is the major thing here. At least two hectare's, would be great, which would need to be mostly flat, so that I can create a garden and forest garden and the animals have room to graze.
With regards to animals, I envisage, a couple of Donkeys, some horses, some sheep and possibly a few goats. I would love to have some cows, but they seeing as I am n the mountains, they do not do so well. I do love them though, they are beautiful creatures. I love goats as well, but they are very destructive, so I would have to think seriously about them. But I also wouldn't turn away any that needed a home.
Goats, Goats, Goats
Then there would be dogs and cats. I would enlist the help of volunteers to help me and the girls out, as lets be honest, all those animals would be a lot of work. But the area I live in, always has a huge flow of people coming to visit and then looking for a way in which to stay longer.
I would also be open to creating a farm school, so that other kids could come and learn what it is to take care of others. Plus learning how to grow their own food and the ways in which it can be preserved. Skills, that will ensure survival.
Then there is my mushroom farm, something that I can't wait to start. It may seem like a lot, but I already know some folk who would love to get involved.
I want this year to be all about possibilities. Instead of focusing on what I think I can not achieve, because of lack of funds etc, I want to switch it up and make the impossible, finally become possible.
I'm not expecting things to fall into my lap, you got to work in life, to make things happen. But I do believe that once we open ourselves up, opportunities come our way , opportunities that will bring me and my girls to our own farm. So I am focusing on what I want, dreaming big and sending it all out into the universe.
So who will join me, who wants to share their dreams for this year, I would love to know, so we can manifest it together? Just remember to dream big!
