Personally, I love imparting the knowledge I have acquired to those who know little or nothing about such knowledge. It creates an innate joy within me to see others develop and improve, and it's been one of the major drive and motivation that as kept me growing and hungry for more knowledge and skills acquisition, as it will grant me the privilege to have a positive impact on the minds and crafts of youngsters and fine-tune them towards becoming the best version of themselves.
I can vividly remember during my NYSC(NIGERIA YOUTH SERVICE CORP) days in 2018, I was appointed as President of Culture and Tourism Community Development Service (CDS) Group in Damaturu LGA, Yobe State, Nigeria. Few weeks after the commencement of my tenure, we were invited to partake in an inter-state Culture and Tourism competition in Jigawa State.
I held a meeting with my fellow executives and members to select songs, dances and dramas to be rehearsed. I guided, led and practiced various indigenous dances and dramas alongside my group members. We desired to perform dances and dramas that project national unity as a core message. The weekly CDS day which was Thursday did not provide enough time for rehearsals so there were instances where we had to meet for rehearsals during the weekends in order to perfect our skills.
With the aid of my fellow executive members and CDS Supervisor, I communicated with leaders of Culture and Tourism CDS Groups in other local governments within Yobe state so they could also participate in the rehearsals. After several weeks of intensive rehearsals, we embarked on the journey to Jigawa State for the competition.
My CDS group emerged third position in Dance competition and first position in Drama amongst all the states that were represented in the competition. Aside from the joy I felt for our success, I was glad for the opportunity to coordinate a team towards achieving a vision and contribute to Cultural and Tourism Development in Nigeria.
What lead to me reminiscing about this event was while I was going through my photo gallery which comprises of pictures I took during my NYSC program, the memories started flooding in, and I once again remember how joyous I was to impact knowledge to others and as well lead my team to victory in our capacity among 36 states that were represented.
Going the the gallery I also saw some images of our days in the camp and how I was part of the coaching team of our football team, and also participated in a dance to entertained and welcome the state governor and the Director General of the NYSC program then.
These are beautiful memories that I'm proud of, so I decided to share my thoughts and about it with everyone here, I had to download some of the images from our CDS Facebook page which was created by me so as to fill your eyes with Beautiful views.
Note: All images used are mine, except stated otherwise, the once with reference are no longer on my device, so I downloaded it from our CDS Facebook page, and they all still contain my image.
