"Opportunity knocks but once", this statement has moved so many people to seize any opportunity that comes their way.
The same way the sun rises giving way to brightness and also gives way to darkness, that is how a normal Human Life is, it is just 50/50. There are good days in which almost everything works for you, Favour will be rolling, opportunities everywhere and so on. The bad days where things are not working. All these depends on how you handle them.
If I am being real, I have been on both ends of that 50/50. And one of my bad days wasn't even caused by life, it was caused by me. I missed an opportunity I clearly saw coming.
As a brilliant pupil in my primary school, a board whose name I can't recall, organised a scholarship program, for all pupils from the primary 2 section to primary 6. The prizes we heard were enough motivation to get the win. We were given a Novel/Text to read in preparation for an Examination. I studied the whole text and could easily say back some sections without looking at the text.
Fast forward to the exams day, finally an opportunity to get myself a scholarship and massive items as promised, I wasn't scared at all because I was overly prepared. We were given the question paper with our answer booklet, I filled my information details on the answer booklet while I glanced through the questions. It was divided into two sections, A and B. The instructions were quite complicated and I didn't bother to ask questions. The time given was not much, just some seconds on each question. I was very confident that I even took some time to answer those questions, I cross checked every answer I gave.
The invigilator said we should hurry up and submit that we are out of time. We all submitted and we went for our break. While we were all discussing I heard my friends talking about strange questions and I asked which was that, they said from section B. I was totally amazed, I said gently, "We were told to answer only section A then come back after the break for Section B", they just stared with a surprised look on their faces and one of them responded, "it was stated we should answer all questions from section A through section B. I was lost, hoping we get called back, after the break I went back only to see our scripts packaged and taken away.
My mood just changed throughout my stay in class, I was just sitting in regret. After some weeks, they came in with the results and called out three winners. The gifts were enormous that they brought in vehicle to pack it to their homes, and their fees were paid for the three terms. I saw myself getting this but it slipped just because of a mistake. A very big opportunity missed and it was caused by me.
I have learnt a lot from this, confidence is good but don't overlook small details because of confidence, if I get similar opportunity I would love to bring myself down, asked questions and also look at instructions carefully.
