I can remember my early days on hive like it was yesterday, I remember how hard it was for me to get curations then because I was new. Although I was very determined to make it on the blockchain, I was struggling financially and the lack of curation was really discouraging. The first year was not easy at all, especially because the person who onboarded me just left me floating in the air. All she said was write and get paid. I was writing, but wasn’t getting paid. To anybody that was discouraging and just like anybody, I was planning on giving up. I did not write for two or three weeks because I was looking for another means of survival.

But then I would always go back when even the things I was trying outside hive failed. One day I decided to look into what I was doing differently, and I noticed a couple of things. First was that it’s not just about writing, the quality of the post matters a lot. When we talk about quality we talk about how we portray our ideas, we talk about typos, we talk about grammar, we talk about authenticity, we talk about paragraphing and a few other things I can’t remember now. I started doing all these things and I was happy with my personal improvement but still was not getting votes.
I decided to do a three months course on storytelling and learned how to tell a good story. By the time I came back 3 months after the quality of my post improved and it attracted a few friends on hive. I also began looking at the communities I wrote in and saw it played a major factor on the level of curations I was getting. For that I decided I would start becoming more active in some communities, and in doing so,I started seeing great progress. I was in some of these communities before now but was getting low curations because of the quality of my post, but when I leveled up, I saw a big difference in those curations as well. I will not say the journey has been smooth, but since that time till now, I have not thought about leaving again because I have seen it is worth my effort.
