Greetings everyone,
I’m really glad to be part of the Hivestudent weekly prompt.
One moment of embarrassment I will never forget happened during my university days. It was our second-semester examination at the 300-level. The exam hall was calm and lively at the same time, but there was one lecturer everyone feared. Suddenly, he walked into the hall and came straight to my seat. Without any warning, he asked why I didn’t comb my hair. I explained that I had combed it before coming, but before I could say anything else, he collected my exam booklet in front of everyone and ordered me out of the hall. That day, I felt deeply embarrassed as all eyes were fixed on me while I walked out.
Another unforgettable experience happened during my secondary school days. We were writing a continuous assessment (CA) test when one of my close friends kept calling me from behind, asking for answers. The moment I turned back to help him, the invigilator caught me and immediately seized my script. I begged him to return it, and when he finally did, he wrote –20 marks boldly on it.
Confused and scared, I didn’t know what to do until a friend whispered that I should circle the –20 and tear it off. Without thinking twice, I did exactly that before scripts were submitted. I was the first person to submit my paper. Afterward, the invigilator warned everyone not to leave the class.
Moments later, I overheard the invigilators discussing the student whose script had been marked –20. Before I could say anything, the entire class mentioned my name. When they checked my script and noticed the torn section, all hell broke loose. I was beaten and disgraced in front of the whole class.
That day remains one of the most embarrassing moments of my life—an experience I can never forget
