When I think back to my first days in college, I remember how everything felt so new and uncertain. I was a mixture of nervous and excited, trying to adjust to a different environment far from home. I did not know many people yet, and I often found myself quietly observing others, hoping to meet someone I could connect with. That was when I met Richmond a meeting that, though simple, became one of the best things that ever happened to me.
It was only my second day of lectures. I walked into the classroom early and sat somewhere in the middle, trying not to stand out. A few minutes later, a tall guy with a friendly smile asked if the seat beside me was taken. I told him it was not, and he sat down. During the lecture, we both struggled to keep up with the lecturer’s pace, and at some point, we exchanged a quiet laugh about how fast everything was going. After class, we decided to sit somewhere and go over our notes together. That short study session turned into a real conversation, and from there, a strong friendship began.
Richmond was the kind of person who made college life easier. He was smart but humble, always ready to help, and had a way of making people laugh. We became study partners, shared meals, and talked about almost everything. Whenever I felt homesick or overwhelmed, he reminded me to stay positive.
Looking back, I am grateful for that random moment that brought us together. What started with a simple question about a seat became a friendship built on trust, loyalty, and countless shared memories, one that still means a lot to me today.
