I was 12 years old when I first fell in love. Her name was Uloma, and she was my seatmate in Primary 6. She was a very pretty girl, slim, with a fair complexion and a beautiful smile. I liked how she kept her hair all back and clean every time. I always looked forward to the next day of school and wished the school hours were longer.
Uloma was a brilliant girl, we will compete during classes sometimes and other times, we will teach each other what we did not understand about the days teaching, during class breaks, myself and Uloma will usually share our meal, we will rush the food so we could have enough time to play before the break time was over, she was my best friend and the love of my life. At the end of every school day, I will walk Uloma home just to make sure that she gets home safe before I start heading home, even though my home was closer to the school, while her home was a bit far from the school.
Since we worshipped at the same church as Uloma, we only miss each other sometimes on Saturdays, while at some weekends, we make excuses to see each other by telling our parents we had homework we needed the other person's help with.
The first day I met Uloma was the day she came in as a new pupil at my school. She was taller than every girl in the class and was the prettiest girl I have ever come across. I had a very bright smile on my face seeing her, and I offered her my seat so we could be sitting mates. Being a handsome and gentle boy, she also smiled back at me and accepted my hand of friendship immediately. We started talking immediately, and it was as if we had known each other all our lives. She was a good listener as well as a good conversationalist.
Time passed and we graduated from primary school, Uloma and her parents moved back to their state and it was the last I heard from her, I have searched all over for the love I once had with Uloma, but always finding that the love we once share was a once in a life time kind of love.
